ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Palm Sunday: Sunday, March 29th. Holy Week commemorates the seven days leading up to Easter. Please invite friends to worship with us on Palm Sunday. There will be no second hour of Sunday school.   

• Palm Sunday ~ Special Musical Fireside: Sunday, March 29th at the Twin Peaks building 6-7pm.  

• General Conference: Saturday, April 9th and Easter Sunday, April 5th. Experience peace and hope through Jesus Christ at general conference. General Conference can be view online at BYUtv, lds.org, and https://www.youtube.com/churchofjesuschrist.

• Relief Society Activity "Bloom Where You Are Planted": Thursday, April 16th  at the stake center at 7pm. "Bloom Where You Are Planted."  Encouraging women to thrive, find joy, and serve in their current circumstances. There will be crafts and treats to enjoy!  

• Summer "Watch Party" Concert June 26th, 2026:  The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will perform at the Hollywood Bowl in June 2026 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their first appearance there in 1926. The Poway Stake will team up with the Rancho Penasquitos Stake and have an Outdoor Summer Concert together to watch the performance.  LDS Stakes from across the United States will also be having “watch parties” at the same time.  This performance will be one to unite our members and rejoice together through music. There will be special performances by local artists, and it will be an amazing event. We are asking for volunteers to help us plan this fun family event. • San Diego Temple - Open House and Rededication:  We are pleased to announce the dates for the open house and rededication of the San Diego California Temple. They are as follows:

  • • • Media Day: Monday, June 15th, 2026

      • Invited Guests: Tuesday, June 16th, 2026

      • Public Open House: Thursday, June 18th thru Saturday July 11th, 2026 (excluding Sundays)

      • Temple Dedication: Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, at 10am (excluding Sundays). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the San Diego California Temple district.

In anticipation of the temple dedication, we encourage members to earnestly prepare to receive ordinances and make covenants with the Lord that will bring power and blessings, both to the living and to our ancestors.

• DI Trailer Relocation:  The Deseret Industries trailer has been relocated back to the Poway stake center and will be open for donations Saturdays from 9am - 12pm. Please do not leave any donations outside of the trailer. Thank you for your generous donations!

• Sabre Springs & Green Valley Ward Dinners for our Missionaries: Hello Sabre Springs Ward Families!  We have the great opportunity to feed the missionaries who have been assigned to the Sabre Springs and the Green Valley wards. They are able to meet for dinner between the hours of 4pm to 8pm but should only be available for 45 minutes. They are allowed 60 minutes at most to include a message and a meal. We have wonderful missionaries who would love to meet you! Please review the available slots by clicking this link to take you to the Google spreadsheet to sign up for meals. Dates that have passed will be shaded in grey. • Volunteer Opportunities - JustServe.org:  Have you checked out JustServe.org recently? Are you looking for uplifting and fun things for your family? Take a look on the website, and if you have any questions ask Heidi Bartholomeusz, Stake JustServe Specialist or our ward JustServe representative, Julie Lawter.

• • • • Support Families in Need with Shaback Altruistic - many times/dates available 

      • Red Cross Machine Translation Post-Editing Volunteer - use your bi-lingual skills for an Important, flexible and fully virtual service opportunity. 

      • Serve Dinner at Turk Recuperative Center for Interfaith Community Services - many dates available, great for families with kids or a few couples!  2-6 people help serve dinner any night at 4:15-5:30pm. Just bring yourselves - and maybe a dessert!

      • Lasagna Love - Provide a meal to someone in need - you choose the days, times, mileage and frequency that you volunteer

      • Wrap the World with Quilts 

      • Comfort and Care Kits for Children 

      • Hospice Volunteer 

      • Take photos of gravestones for Billion Graves 

      • Distribute books to Little Free Libraries near you 

• New History Website Available to Stake Members:  Recording a history of significant events or experiences started with Brother Joseph's First Vision and has continued to play an important role in the Church to our day. Remembering past blessings strengthens our faith and sustains our testimonies. For many years, ward and stake leaders prepared annual histories that were sent to Church headquarters and saved for posterity. In 2024, the Church introduced a new way to record these events and experiences using an online website called the Unit History Tool. The website allows ward and stake leaders to record history stories as things happen throughout the year. They are automatically saved in the Church archives and are also available to ward and stake members. There you will find stories submitted by stake leaders as well as those contributed by your ward/branch leaders. We invite you to explore this new website at https://unithistory.churchofjesuschrist.org. We encourage you to come back often to check for new history stories and stay up-to-date on the faith-promoting events and experiences that are the history of the Poway California Stake. • BYU-Pathway Online Institute Service Missionary Opportunity:  Brothers and Sisters - Do you enjoy teaching the Gospel and helping people along the Covenant Path?  We are thrilled to announce a fantastic new service missionary opportunity for individuals 26 years and older to teach BYU-Pathway Online Institute classes! We appreciate your willingness to serve and invite you to join us in this meaningful journey. About the Opportunity: Online Institute provides learning experiences that are Christ-centered, scripture-based, learner-focused, and Spirit-directed, helping students deepen their conversion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Serving as an online service missionary is a rewarding experience that includes connecting with learners online throughout the week in Canvas and in a weekly Zoom gathering.  

Teaching Responsibilities: 1) Teach from the standard works, words of the living prophets, and correlated Institute curriculum.  2) Interact with students online throughout the week.  3) Gather virtually with students once a week for 45 minutes. 

Time Commitment: Online Institute Missionaries spend on average about 5 hours each week in this assignment.

• Institute Class (Young Adults):  Held every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Relief Society room at the Pomerado Building. The classes are taught by Brother Aaron Buhler. Prior to class there is a light dinner at 6:30pm.

• Temple Readiness and Temple Options (from the Stake Presidency):  Even with the recent closing of the San Diego Temple to allow for renovations, it is still vitally important we remain first and foremost "temple ready" and thus we encourage you to continue to renew your temple recommend when appropriate. Secondly, we pray you will continue to find time to attend the nearby temples. President Nelson has said when speaking of temples, "It is His house. It is filled with His power. I promise that increased time in the temple ill bless your life in ways nothing else can."  To assist you with the goal of attending the temple, the following temple outline options in the nearby areas are as follows:  Click here for the Tijuana Temple. • Monday Night Pickleball:  Join us every Monday evening at 5:30pm for Pickleball at Randie and Dixie Burrell's residence.  The Burrell's court entrance gate is to the left of their driveway at 14221 Arbolitos Drive, Poway.  The Burrell’s have 3 lighted courts.  Rally scoring and players rotate, so you play with different people each game. This is a very easy and social game.  Come join us for an evening of fun and lots of laughs!
