What is meant by Sublimation Process and how it works?

Sublimation is a physical process, in this, solid converts directly into gaseous form. It uses temperature of 210°C -230°C for about 30 to 60 seconds when paper is put on the desired material or surface for doing thermal processing.

Due to this high temperature the dyes transfer and penetrate the fibres easily into its gas phase. The colors will impose on the fabric without any residue and the design will be of long durability after the whole process.

What will you need for Sublimation Printing?

When you are doing the printing process at your own on a smaller scale, then you'll need:

  • A Printer

  • A Sublime toner

  • And Transfer Press

Printers that can be used as Sublimation Printer

The printers that use water-insoluble dyes, are used for sublimation printing. Since sublimation printers are temperature sensitive and work with specific ink.

How Sublimation Printer works?

These printers heaten-up the ink and deposit it in a gas state on the surface using a high temperature. It tranfers your design onto the surface or fabric by using ink and heating. It is able to print whole garment and other stuff, for an example - t-shirts, hoodies, socks, coffee mugs etc.

Which type of materials can you print with Sublimation Printers?

Sublimation Printers are best suited for polyester. The polyester content in the overall fabric should be at least 80-85%. If you're using ceramic mugs or metal plates, then it is important to coat them with polyester. The background color will be White or light shade.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Sublimation Printing

The advantages and disadvantages sublimation printing, are listed below:

Advantages:-
