General Juan Castañeda Senior High School (GJCSHS) is one of the four stand-alone senior high schools in the Division of Imus, initiated and spearheaded by Dr. Lualhati O. Cadavedo, OIC, Schools Division Superintendent. City Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi expressed his desire to name these schools after Imuseño generals who bravely defended the city during the Spanish Revolution.
Our school proudly bears the name of General Juan Sarasa Castañeda, an ilustrado, landowner, and revolutionary hero. Born on May 8, 1870, in Imus, Cavite, he dedicated his life to serving the people—supporting displaced farmers, organizing Katipuneros, and even aiding national heroes like Dr. Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio. He briefly served as Capitan Municipal de Imus but stepped down to join the American Revolution. Despite being captured and exiled, he remained committed to the cause until his death on October 15, 1902, at just 32 years old.
Today, our school proudly bears his name, honoring his courage, compassion, and legacy of service to the nation.
