I am a dedicated academic, researcher, and innovator with over two decades of expertise in Electrical Engineering, Pattern Recognition, Signal Processing, Marine Systems, and Smart Grid Technologies. I hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Machines and Pattern Recognition) from Michigan State University, USA (2010), along with an MS in Control Systems and a BE in Electrical Engineering from NUST, Islamabad.
Currently, I serve as Professor PNEC and Director of Research at PN Engineering College, NUST, where I have also held roles including Director, Systems at the Navy Research & Development Institute and Director, Quality Assurance at PNEC. As an Assistant Professor at NUST since 2010, I have taught advanced courses such as Pattern Recognition, Signal Processing, SONAR & Underwater Systems, Smart Grid Technologies, Power Systems, and Electrical Machines.
My research interests include Underwater Acoustics, Marine and Autonomous Vehicles, Electrical Machines and Drives, Smart Grid, Power Engineering, and Automation & Control. Over the years, I have successfully led and completed numerous nationally funded projects from HEC, NESCOM, USPCASE, and NUST, securing millions of rupees in research funding. My industrial collaborations include partnerships with Pakistan Navy, Dawlance, K-Electric, Renewable Resources, the Sialkot Football Industry (Industry 4.0 initiatives), and multinational partners.
On the international front, I have established collaborations with prestigious institutions such as Harbin Engineering University (China), Michigan State University (USA), and Tafila Technical University (Jordan), focusing on research in underwater communication, distributed power networks, and advanced electrical machines.
I have authored 86 research publications with 785+ citations, and have supervised 60+ MS theses, 4 PhDs (ongoing), and over 200 undergraduate students. As a member of the Pakistan Engineering Council’s Task Force on OBE implementation, I have trained faculty across Pakistan and helped PNEC become the first institute in Southern Pakistan to achieve OBE accreditation.
My contributions have been recognized through multiple honors, including the All NUST Best Innovator Award (2018), NUST Best Teacher and Best Researcher Awards, and a nomination for the Sitara-e-Imtiaz Civil Award (2020).
With a strong passion for advancing research, education, and innovation, I continue to drive impactful contributions at the intersection of engineering, technology, maritime sciences, and national development.
