Hello and Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my page. I am a field ecologist—primarily interested in highly productive estuarine ecosystems. Specifically, I am interested in restoration of high-valued structured habitats, namely, oyster reefs, saltmarshes and seagrass meadows. My PhD research—based in coastal Alabama—showed that structured estuarine habitats facilitate one another and work in tandem, often providing mutual benefits. Being an ecosystem ecologist, I believe in holistic cure of any malfunctioning in ecosystems, although habitats are mostly resilient and are able to bounce back on their own, humans just have to let the ecosystems alone with no interference. My expanded research gamut now incorporates restoration of diadromous fish habitats along the Atlantic coast of the U.S.
I received my Ph.D. degree in marine sciences from the University of South Alabama and Dauphin Island Sea Lab in 2016. I am currently affiliated with Queens College, City University of New York, Queens, NY as a post-doctoral researcher in the Biology Department. I am working with Dr. John Waldman on Shared Rivers Concept— a concept where ecology and energy production exists simultaneously without hampering one another. Also, I joined the faculty of Biology Department at Queens College as an adjunct faculty in Fall 2017. I teach BIOL 106 Introductory Biology (Lab), BIOL 226 Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy (Lab), BIOL 340/640 General Ecology (Lecture and Lab).
