Sarah Gurney - Principal

Sarah trained at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts. After graduating with all her teaching qualifications, Sarah went on to perform across both the UK and USA in a variety of shows, such as West End Musicals, Summer seasons, Cabaret shows, and in Royal Variety Performances both as a dancer and assistant choreographer working with some wonderful celebrities along the way such as Shirley Bassey, David Essex, Debbie Reynolds, Bradley Walsh,  Anthony Costa, Shane Ritchie, Joe Pasqule, Martin Kemp, Steve Mcfadden, Bobby Davro,  Anton Dubeke, Erin Boag, Sam Kane, Linda Lucardi, the late Paul O’Grady to name but a few, all of which I have such wonderful memories.

After such a fantastic performing career of 20 years, Sarah turned to choreographing full-time and has choreographed Las Vegas shows, Cabarets, Corporate events, and many Pantomimes for over 14 years. Sarah was also the first to choreograph ‘The Biggest Pantomime in the world’ telling the story of Cinderella and involving over 120 members in 2015 before taking on the role of assistant director in the following year’s production of Peter Pan in 2016.

Sarah first started her adventure with SSG doing holiday workshops for children to give them a chance to perform by dancing, singing, and acting in a theatre environment putting on shows in just a few days with costumes, make-up, a set and lighting giving them a real show experience. After the success of these workshops, Sarah decided to open the doors to her school SSG ACADEMY 7 years ago.

After such a wonderful career performing Sarah wanted to pass on all her experience to the younger generation. Sarah is extremely proud of all the students who have walked through SSG doors so far, watching and enjoying all the students’ progression is exceptionally rewarding, no matter how small or big, it’s just amazing to see. Students have taken multiple LAMDA Exams over the years and the SSG festival team have competed in many competitions across the UK with some amazing results.

SSG teaches students as little as 4 years old and up to 18 years old, helping them improve in confidence making lifetime friendships with lots of fun along the way.
