Finance & HR Administrator Applicant Portal

Silver Spring Day School (SSDS) is currently seeking an experienced, detail oriented Finance & HR Administrator to join our growing and diverse school. The Finance & HR Administrator will process payroll, manage financials, and ensure the school is compliant with all relevant federal, state and local employment laws.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate has experience managing financial information and demonstrated grasp of employment laws. The candidate works collaboratively with both external and internal stakeholders and values privacy and confidentiality.

Job Duties & Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Financial Administration

  • Works with accountant / banks / credit card payment company
  • Accounts receivable / accounts payable
  • Collect and monitor tuition payments / drop ins
  • Tracks actuals
  • Payments for events
  • Payroll
  • Assists ED with budget
  • 990 / Taxes

Employment Compliance

  • Remains current with employment law
  • Terms of employment
  • New Hire Paperwork
  • Benefits management
  • Manage simple IRA
  • Insurance – Liability, Director’s, Group Medical, etc.
  • Collaborates with ED on salary decisions for new hires
  • Posts job descriptions as needed
  • Participates in interview process with ED for new admin staff
  • Exit paperwork

Qualifications, Experience and Education:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial management background
  • Solid understanding of employment law / compliance
  • Tech-savvy; Proficient in standard office systems (Microsoft Office)
