I made a Power BI Report which shows the latest installed Power Capacity (GW) across India in real time. For this, I have connected the data source through the API provided by Government of India (GoI). I automated this using Power Query on the backend in Power BI.

API

The API automatically fetches the data from all the 28 states and 8 union territories just with a click of a button.

Data

This report shows breakup of Installed Power Capacity (GW) by States, Union Territories, Sectors (Private/Govt.), Sources of Power & Administrative Regions.

Paris Climate Agreement

• It is important to note that as per the Paris (Climate) Agreement, India has committed to achieve 40% of its total power generation from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

• Currently, total 38% of total installed capacity comes from such sources. The actual usage and power generation may vary but nonetheless, India is far ahead of its targets and will easily exceed the target as per various projections etc.
