Preseason Training for Track & Field

Sprints, Jumps, Throws

Those interested in Preparing themselves for a season of competition in the Sprints, Jumps, or Throws should start developing their strength through weight training.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that you MUST be using proper form when lifting weights. It is easy to suffer serious, long term injuries if improper form is used, so make sure you're familiar with correct form for any exercise you plan on doing.

Success in the Track & Field disciplines of Sprinting, Jumping, or Throwing depends heavily on two main components: Form and Power (the combination of speed and strength). Therefore, it is important to start developing both those two components early in the season.
