Chandramouli

I am Chandramouli. I have pursued an MBBS and MD in Biochemistry from JIPMER, Puducherry. During MD course, I worked on the association of psychological, cellular, and biochemical stress in head and neck cancer patients under the guidance of Dr. Nivedita Nanda, through which I was introduced to protein chaperones and the 'protein folding' problem. My desire to work on the protein folding problem and love for Physics led me to join the Srivastava lab as a Graduate student in August 2021. I am an ardent believer of Feynman's famous quote, "There is nothing that living things do that cannot be understood from the point of view that they are made of atoms acting according to the laws of physics".

Currently, I am exploring two different aspects of Alpha-synuclein, an intrinsically disordered protein linked to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease: the role of alpha-synuclein in membrane fission and the folding pathway of alpha-synuclein on the membrane.
