Anand Srivastava

Anand Srivastava (1979) studied Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (1998-2002) and obtained his PhD at the Ohio State University in the United States (2010). After post-doc period at the University of Chicago (USA) with Prof. Gregory Voth, he joined the Molecular Biophysics Unit (MBU) at the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) in 2015 as an assistant professor. He was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 2021. His laboratory develops and uses multiscale theories and molecular simulations tools to unravel atomic-level descriptions of the functional motions of biomolecules with current activities focused on membrane permeation and vesicular transport as well as molecular recognition of intrinsically disordered proteins with RNA, lipids and small (drug) molecules. Dr. Srivastava received the Early Career Fellowship (2018-2021) from the Department of Science and Technology for his work on membrane lateral organisation and has recently received the prestigious Wellcome-Trust DBT India alliance Teams Science Grant (2022-2027) to study mechanisms leading to budding and fusion of vesicular transport carriers. His work has resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed publications so far.
