National Mathematics Day 2024
District-Level Celebrations
(Kottayam District)
Welcome to the National Mathematics Day Celebrations (2024), organized by Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS), Kottayam in association with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE), National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), and Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India.
This is a District Level Program (for Kottayam District) aimed at college level students. There will be three major events in which students from various colleges can participate. Participation certificates will be provided to all the candidates, best 3 teams will win special prizes and the top winner will be selected to participate in the state-level championship in the respective events. Also, there will be a SRIBS ever rolling trophy for the college with maximum points combined together (accordingly) for all events!

Quiz competition (Maths Mental Challenge)
Two students (UG/PG, or combined) from a college can form a team. If the number of participants for this event is more, there will be a screening test prior to the main rounds. An endorsement form (format given in the Google Form link) from the head of the department should be attached along with registration. Decision of the judges will be final. The organizers reserve the rights to make appropriate changes in the conduct of the event as and when necessary.
Poster Exhibition
This is aimed at UG level students. Theme for this event is "Application of Mathematics in Science, Technology, and Environment". The exhibits will be evaluated based on the following seven criteria: Relevance to Theme, Content Quality, Creativity & Originality, Scientific/Mathematical Rigor, Visual Appeal & Design, Understanding & Explanation, Impact.
Two students from a college can form a team. A team can use a maximum of 4 charts for their exhibition. An endorsement form (format given in the Google Form link) from the head of the department should be attached along with registration. Decision of the judges will be final. The organizers reserve the rights to make appropriate changes in the conduct of the event as and when necessary.
Idea Pitching Competition
This is aimed at PG level students. Theme for this event is "Application of Mathematics in Science, Technology, and Environment". The exhibits will be evaluated based on the following seven criteria: Relevance to Theme, Innovation & Originality, Content Depth & Accuracy, Feasibility & Practicality, Mathematical Rigor, Presentation Skills, Response to Questions.
Two students from a college can form a team. A team will be given a maximum of 7 minutes for their presentation, plus 3 minutes will be allotted for Q&A. Teams can send their slides either to sribsprograms@gmail.com or can bring the presentation to the venue in a pen drive (or other equivalent). An endorsement form (format given in the Google Form link) from the head of the department should be attached along with registration. Expert Talk
There will be an expert talk on the same day, which will focus on the research works of Srinivasa Ramanujan. The talk will be accessible to UG level students and above.
There is no need of registration for the talk.
SRIBS Ever Rolling Trophy
The SRIBS ever rolling trophy will be awarded to the college with maximum points combined together (accordingly) for all events!
Registration fee & Other details
There will be a registration fee of Rs. 150/- per participant.
One person can participate in more than one event.
Lunch and other refreshments will be provided to the participants.

Venue: SRIBS Main campus, 8th Mile, Pampady, Kottayam
Reaching the campus: The SRIBS main campus is roughly 1km away from the 8th mile bus stop, on the Kottayam-Kumily highway, and 500 meters after the IIMC-Southern Regional campus.
