I have two independent Python codes, each one with its own inputs and outputs. I would like to have two IPython consoles and two Variable Explorers, each one associated to one of the two codes. In that way, I could switch back and forth between my two independent codes. I DON'T need to use results from one code to the other.

and select the option called Execute in a dedicated console. That will execute each of your codes in the same console every time you run them (our default is to run code in the console that has focus at the moment).

So I have upgraded to ArcPro 3.0, looks great and loads of new functionality. I cloned the default environment using the new ArcPro Package Manager and in my new cloned environment I installed the 5.1.5 spyder IDE.

Esri's release of ArcPro 3.1.0 again destroyed my existing python environment. I had to remove this, then clone the default and activate the new environment. Despite ArcPro 3.1.0 being packaged with spyder 5.3.3 it refused to install it and I ended up back here on my own page seeking my own advice! I would add this nugget of information I tried my advice above and that failed so what I ended up doing was first installing spyder 5.1.1 using

There are issues with dependencies that I have brought up with the arcgis team that relate to the desire to support older widgets. The real problem started when arcgis became installed by default and the dependency conflict arose. In that circumstance, pip install spyder installs what is needed, but not what arcgis notebooks needs. This doesn't affect non-map notebooks outside arcgis, however.

The ability to execute parts of the code to update some objects inthe interpreter (in the example above, we updated the function objecthello), is of great use when developing and debugging more complexcodes, and when creating objects/data in the interpreter session taketime. For example, by modifying only the functions (orclasses/objects, etc) that we are actually developing or debugging, wecan keep re-using the data structures etc that are defined in theinterpreter session.

I got the same issue today while working in a two-screen environment. The issue was solved by opening spyder in the screen where spyder looks well and then choosing Normal in the Screen resolution section of the menu in Tools>Preferences>Application>Interface

Unfortunately for me it is very important, that I can select code lines and run them ad hoc, without copying them to the shell each time. For older versions of spyder this could be easily done by selecting the code and pressing [Ctrl]+[Enter], but now this seems to execute not just the code I selected. To be honest, I don't even know, what it executes.

This IDE is pretty popular among data analysts because it enables users to visualize data, run codes, and add text simultaneously. Apart from Python, Jupyter is compatible with programming languages like C#, Ruby, PHP, etc. This IDE also gives you the opportunity to save and share your notebook publicly or privately with other users.

So it all comes down to your needs. If you frequently work with data and present results from rigorous data analysis, the best option would be Jupyter IDE. But if you often apply new codes and mostly do the basic programming in Python, you should be fine with Spyder. You also have the option to switch between these two IDEs according to your needs.

There are also many more response codes than this, but in our own experience, these are encountered infrequently, if at all. Many of these are likely to also be resolved by following the same steps as other similar response codes described above. ff782bc1db
