Primary Function:
As an Outreach and Pantry Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the Volunteer Manager during volunteer events and outreach initiatives, while also assisting the Pantry Coordinator in our food pantry operations. This position offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in outreach and volunteer management while making a meaningful impact by helping individuals facing food insecurity. Note: We can only guarantee a maximum of 15 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Outreach Orientated Tasks
Join outdoor food distributions on Thursday and Friday mornings to support the Volunteer Manager by directing volunteers, capturing event photos, setting up tents and tables, repackaging bulk produce, and distributing goods to clients.
Send the pictures taken at the event to the Volunteer Manager and the Communications Manager.
Send outreach emails to organizations and companies to recruit volunteers and establish partnerships.
Pantry Duties
Proper intake of returning clients with application assistance for new clients.
Maintain inventory levels by restocking shelves with the proper food items.
Assist clients during their shopping experience, offering guidance and support as needed.
Weigh food items for clients to ensure accurate distribution.
Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate efforts and ensure the smooth operation of the pantry.
Preferred qualifications:
Must have reliable transportation.
Availability required on Thursday and Friday mornings from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM for food distributions.
