Beauty's Community Corporation serves food desert communities through Beauty's Community Garden. Our programs, events, and educational materials are focused on breaking the cycle of food insecurity, poor nutrition, and the resulting health outcomes people within communities with limited access to fresh produce experience. These communities are called food deserts. We are committed to bringing awareness and impacting the lives of the residents in these communities.
We are seeking a dedicated Horticulture Intern to assist with the management and maintenance of our urban food garden. The intern will gain hands-on experience in urban agriculture, focusing on sustainable practices and community engagement.
Assist with planting, watering, weeding, pruning, and fertilizing urban food crops.
Learn about organic gardening techniques and pest management.
Help maintain garden tools and equipment.
Engage with the community through educational workshops and garden tours.
Participate in composting and vermiculture operations.
Assist in harvesting and preparing produce for community use.
Currently enrolled in a horticulture, environmental science, or related program.
Strong interest in urban agriculture and sustainable gardening.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to perform physical tasks and work in various weather conditions.
