This Privacy Policy explains how("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Sprich mobile application and related services (the "App"). We are based in and are the data controller responsible for your personal data.
Sprich is free to download and use. We support the App by showing advertising through Google AdMob (see Section 5). By using the App you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Learning content you create — the messages you type or speak to the AI tutor, your quiz answers, and your responses in practice games and daily quests.
Voice recordings — when you use speaking or pronunciation features, we process audio from your microphone to provide feedback. [State whether recordings are stored, and for how long, or processed in real time and discarded.]
Photos — when you take part in photo challenges, we process the images you choose to submit. [State whether photos are stored or processed and discarded.]
Support messages — anything you send us when you contact support or give feedback.
Learning progress — your CEFR level, XP, streaks, badges, completed lessons, and quiz results, used to power your progress dashboard.
Usage data — features used, screens viewed, session length, and interactions, used to understand and improve the App.
Device and technical data — device model, operating system version, language settings, app version, and a device or installation identifier.
Advertising identifiers — the Android Advertising ID or Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), plus your IP address and ad-interaction data, used to deliver and measure ads (see Section 5).
Crash and diagnostic data — technical logs that help us find and fix problems.
To provide the App and its core features — AI conversations, quizzes, stories, games, and progress tracking.
To personalise lessons and difficulty to your level.
To save your progress, streaks, XP, and achievements across sessions and devices.
To display advertising that keeps the App free, and to measure how those ads perform (see Section 5).
To send service messages and, where you have opted in, learning reminders and notifications.
To analyse usage so we can fix bugs, improve features, and develop new ones.
To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
To comply with legal obligations.
The AI tutor, conversation corrections, and pronunciation feedback are powered by third-party artificial-intelligence providers. To generate a response, the text and/or audio you send to the tutor is transmitted to [AI PROVIDER NAME — e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google] for processing.
We send only what is needed to produce your learning response.
Your content is processed under the AI provider's terms and data-processing commitments. [Confirm and link the provider's policy; state whether your content may be used to train their models — many business/API tiers do not, and you should say so explicitly.]
We do not sell your conversations, voice recordings, or photos.
The App is free and is supported by ads delivered through Google AdMob, a service provided by Google. To show and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process:
Your advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA);
Your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
Device and app information, and data about how you interact with ads.
Where permitted, ads may be personalised based on your interests and activity. Where we do not have permission, you will see non-personalised ads, which rely only on general context such as the content of the App and your approximate location.
On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency asks for your permission before any tracking across apps. If you decline, you will receive non-personalised ads.
In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before showing personalised ads, using a consent message. [Confirm you use Google's UMP / a CMP; you can change or withdraw consent in the App settings.]
On any device, you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings, and adjust Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
For more on how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see Google's "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" and its Privacy Policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object as described in the "Your rights" section.
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the App, and only as needed to do so. These may include:
Google AdMob — to deliver and measure advertising.
AI providers — to generate tutor responses and feedback. [AI PROVIDER]
Cloud hosting and storage — [e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Supabase]
Analytics and crash reporting — [e.g. Firebase, Google Analytics, Sentry]
Authentication — [e.g. Apple, Google, Firebase Auth — remove if no accounts]
Push notifications — [e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging, OneSignal]
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or others. If our business is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where Google and our other service providers operate. Where we transfer data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. [Adjust to reflect where your data is actually processed.]
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within [e.g. 30–90 days], except where we must keep certain records to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. Advertising and analytics data is retained according to the policies of the relevant providers. Aggregated or anonymised data that can no longer identify you may be kept indefinitely.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you;
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
Delete your data ("right to erasure");
Restrict or object to certain processing;
Receive your data in a portable format;
Withdraw consent at any time, including consent to personalised ads;
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
You can exercise most of these from within the App, or by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by law.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To opt out of personalised ads, use the controls in Section 5. To make a request, contact us below; we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
The App is intended for users aged [e.g. 16 and over / 13 and over]. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age. Because the App shows advertising, it is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly serve personalised ads to them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it. [If you ever target younger children, advertising and data rules change significantly under COPPA, Google Families policy, and the GDPR — get legal advice first.]
We use technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
