Auditions for The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler

The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler gives voice to an aspect of women that is often shamed, abused or otherwise silenced. It calls for a world where women are safe, free and fully alive in the whole of their bodies.

There are roles for up to twelve women in this genuine ensemble.

Auditions will be held Sunday, December 9 and Monday, December 10 at 7:00 PM.

Callbacks, if necessary, will be held Tuesday, December 11 at 7:00 PM.

Audition Forms can be downloaded and filled out in advance or at auditions.

Auditions will consist of the following:

First, share in under one minute, a story that responds to one of the following questions:

  • What does your vagina need to say?
  • What do you need to say about your vagina?
  • Why did your vagina bring you here?

Your story need not be scripted nor memorized, although it could be. We invite your authenticity.

Second, perform a one-minute prepared monologue. This does NOT need to be from The Vagina Monologues. Should you be unable to prepare your own piece, you may read a monologue from the play. These will be available at the audition.

You may be asked to read from sides or sing back a short melody line. There is no need to prepare or worry about this.

The cast list will be announced by Friday, December 14.

There will be a read-through scheduled in December, and regular rehearsals will begin in January.

Rehearsal days will be decided upon review of actors' conflicts. Rehearsals will be held three days a week, and actors need only attend rehearsals for which they have been scheduled.

Questions can be sent to the director at director@spotlightplayhouse.org.
