ExtensionsFox (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Spotify Data Export browser extension (the “Extension”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension handles, how it is used, and your choices.
By installing or using the Extension, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Extension.
OVERVIEW
Spotify Data Export is designed to help you export track metadata from Spotify web pages you visit. In normal use:
Track lists and export files are processed locally in your browser.
We do not operate a remote service that stores or receives your Spotify playlists, albums, or artist discographies for export.
Export files (CSV, JSON, Excel) are generated on your device and saved through your browser’s download mechanism.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT FOR EXPORT
We do not require you to create an account with us to export data.
We do not collect or store on our servers:
Your Spotify playlists, albums, artists, or track lists
Your exported files
Your Spotify password
Your Spotify listening history beyond what you choose to export from the page you have open
INFORMATION PROCESSED LOCALLY IN YOUR BROWSER
When you use the Extension on open.spotify.com, the Extension may access track metadata from the active Spotify page using your existing Spotify web session. This processing happens on your device so the Extension can build your export file.
Locally stored preferences may include:
Default export format (CSV, JSON, or Excel)
Export options (for example, column headers, guest appearances for artist exports)
These preferences are saved using the browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local).
INFORMATION SENT TO OUR SERVERS (PRO / LICENSING ONLY)
If you use Pro features or license verification, the Extension may communicate with ExtensionsFox services (https://api.extensionsfox.com) to check subscription status.
This may include:
An anonymous device identifier (UUID) stored locally in the Extension
App identifier for Spotify Data Export
If you restore a purchase: your order ID and email address (only when you choose to link a purchase)
We use this information only to verify Pro access, provide support, and prevent abuse. We do not use it to access your Spotify content.
SPOTIFY AND THIRD PARTIES
The Extension interacts with Spotify web services only as needed to read metadata from pages you open while logged in to Spotify. We are not affiliated with Spotify AB.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your Spotify data for advertising.
Payment processing for Pro subscriptions is handled through our checkout provider (ExtensionsFox / third-party payment processors). We do not store full payment card details in the Extension.
BROWSER PERMISSIONS
The Extension requests permissions for the following purposes:
open.spotify.com and related Spotify endpoints: read track metadata from pages you visit using your logged-in session
Storage: save your export settings and anonymous identifier
Tabs and Scripting: communicate with the active Spotify tab to perform exports
Cookies: access session-related data required for Spotify web requests (where applicable)
The Extension does not modify your Spotify library, create playlists on your behalf, or post content to your account.
DATA RETention
Export files: remain on your computer; we do not retain copies.
Local settings: remain in your browser until you uninstall the Extension or clear extension data.
Pro verification data: retained only as long as needed for licensing, support, and legal compliance.
DATA SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information sent to our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and Spotify account secure.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
YOUR CHOICES
You may:
Stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it
Clear Extension storage through your browser’s extension settings
Contact us to ask questions about Pro account linking or data we hold for support purposes
INTERNATIONAL USERS
If you access our services from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in that country.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the Extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
