Wasn't supposed to get a souvenir spoon in Scotland because this wasn't really a vacation trip, but I figured I might not return to Scotland that soon, plus it really doesn't take up much space in the luggage, so here it is.
The apex of the handle (finial) features a circular insert depicting a highland cow, also affectionately known as Heilan coo. They have distinct shaggy coats with upward-curving horns. Below, where the finial meets the stem, there is a triquetra, or Trinity knot. This is a classic piece of Celtic knotwork often used in Scottish design to represent heritage and eternity. "Scotland" is also stamped vertically down the stem. The bowl features a detailed stamped image of the famous Edinburgh Castle as it sits atop Castle Rock, a volcanic plug that dominates the city's skyline.
