I'm glad I managed to find this spoon during my 3 hour zip through Bratislava.
The handle finial is a raised image of Bratislava Castle, and the design captures the castle's distinctive rectangular shape and 4 corner towers, a view that dominates the skyline above the Danube River. This spoon was likely made after 1993, following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the establishment of the independent Slovak Republic. This is where the history of this area gets very interesting and we tend to forget how technically young these nations are.
Because of my pet peeve of photographing the spoon and catching my own reflection in the spoon (which is not completely unavoidable but it's a bit out of the way in terms of resources and effort I'm willing to spend on this project), I chose to get a spoon with a matte finish rather than a highly reflective chrome one.
