Introduction
SponScore is a free Chrome browser extension that helps international job seekers by showing real-time insights into employers' visa sponsorship history (H-1B and OPT) directly on job listing pages (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse).
SponScore is operated from the United States as an independent software project. We are committed to your privacy and collect only the minimal data needed to provide and improve this service. Currently, SponScore does not require user accounts, logins, or email registration to use the extension. If account functionality is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly. This is not a data broker, tracking tool, or recruitment service—it's a visualization of publicly available visa filing records.
This policy complies with applicable laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California's Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA as amended by CPRA), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA 2023 and Rules 2025), and Chrome Web Store policies. We prioritize transparency, data minimization, and user rights.

Information We Collect
We collect limited, mostly non-personal information:
From Your Browser:
Employer name extracted from the job page (company-related, not personal).
Job page domain (e.g., linkedin.com) to confirm supported sites.
Backend / Usage Data:
Anonymous metrics (e.g., query frequency, timestamps) for service improvement.
IP addresses in standard server logs (temporary, for security/performance; not used to identify or profile individuals).
We do not collect names, emails, browsing history, resumes, form data, credentials, or other personal identifiers. Data is transmitted securely (HTTPS).
Employer names and job domains are generally not personal data under GDPR/CCPA/DPDPA (they relate to companies, not individuals). IP addresses may qualify as personal in some contexts—we treat them accordingly with limited use.
How We Use Your Information
We use data to:
The employer’s name extracted from supported job pages is securely transmitted via HTTPS to our backend API solely to generate sponsorship insights.
Cache results locally in your browser (chrome.storage) for speed (performance only).
Analyze anonymous usage to fix issues and improve features.
Maintain security and troubleshoot (e.g., via temporary IP logs).
Processing is limited to these purposes. We rely on legitimate interests (providing/improving the service) under GDPR, or equivalent minimization principles. Under DPDPA, processing aligns with lawful purposes (service provision; no broad marketing/profiling). No data is used for advertising, selling, or unrelated activities.
Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you have rights over your data (if any personal data is involved):
Access / Right to Know: Request details on what we hold (categories, sources, purposes).
Correction / Rectification: Ask to update inaccurate data.
Deletion/Erasure: Request removal (we delete/anonymize logs promptly anyway).

Data Security and Retention
We use reasonable safeguards (HTTPS, limited access). Server logs used for security and performance monitoring are retained for up to 30 days and then deleted or anonymized. We do not retain browsing history or personal identifiers.
