Having been a lifelong fan of SpongeBob and seen both of the movies, I have seen almost nothing of the events of the movie having any major repercussions for the TV series. One notable thing in particular is how markedly different king Neptune is portrayed in the movie as in the cartoon. I do remember one episode where SpongeBob and Patrick got a Goofy Goober back scratcher, but that's all I've seen.

The world of everyone's favorite pineapple-dwelling, bright yellow sponge is about to get much bigger. During the ViacomCBS Investors Event, streaming service Paramount+ has announced that it is bringing three all-new movies to the service based on characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe. They also announced that a fourth, as-yet-untitled SpongeBob film is currently being developed by Nickelodeon Animation for release on the big screen. This is not the first time Nickelodeon is expanding the world of the franchise, which has remained popular with the young and young-at-heart for over two decades.

Arezou is a writer and news editor for Collider. She has a wide-ranging knowledge of movies and TV, which means she almost certainly will start quoting something mid-conversation.

Arezou is passionate about Star Wars, particularly Obi-Wan Kenobi, Fennec Shand, and the Sequel Trilogy. Her TV interests are wide-ranging, with recent favorites including Bridgerton, the live-action One Piece, and Vikings: Valhalla.

On the movie side, Arezou loves a good romantic comedy, from classics like French Kiss and The Holiday to more recent ones like The Lost City (yes, it counts) and the Turkish-language Love Tactics, as well as every single one of those Hallmark holiday movies.

She is also an avid champion of Iranians working in the film and television industry. Arezou loves getting the opportunity to conduct interviews for Collider, including with Andy Samberg, Ming-Na Wen, Succession's Arian Moayed, and Ewan McGregor (her first ever interview for the site!).

While she has always wanted to work as a full-time writer, Arezou's educational background is a little more wide-reaching. She has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto in English Literature and Cinema Studies (with some Classics thrown in "for fun"), and a Master's degree from the University of Geneva in Specialized Translation. She is fluent in French and Farsi, and conversational in Spanish. She is also a graduate of the Second City Training Center sketch writing program, and holds a certificate in Producing from UCLA.

In addition to her Collider pursuits, she is also the Managing Editor of The Geeky Waffle, and co-hosts podcasts on their network. Arezou is also a member of the Writers Guild of Canada, and writes novels when she can.

Plankton and Bob become a team -- or as Plankton calls it, a \"TEE-am.\" They even invent a time machine to try to get the formula back. What ensues is a run-in with a dolphin from the future, and a pirate played by Antonio Banderas, who has clearly seen too many Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

With three shows and movies set in Bikini Bottom, there are plenty of ways to binge the SpongeBob franchise. If what you're looking for is an experience similar to fans who have been with it since day one, then you'd probably want to watch the show, movies, and spinoffs according to when they came out. Here they are, in release order:

If you're familiar with the movies that end this list, you might think I included them just because they match Kamp Koral visually, using a 3D animation style instead of the 2D of the original. But there's more linking the movies to Kamp Koral than that.

Chief content officer of Movies and Kids & Family for Paramount Plus, Brian Robbins, confirmed during the Viacom CBS Investor Event that all three SpongeBob SquarePants projects are officially in the works currently at Nickelodeon Studios. In an official tweet from Paramount, the new SpongeBob films were described as "character-driven." Each of the three SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff movies is set to focus in on and highlight a specific character from the series.

"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run" is probably the weakest in the trilogy but it's still a super cute and fun time. While I do miss the hand drawn animation, I didn't mind this style as much as I thought I would and it wasn't as jarring as I feared it would be. I wish this was as funny as the first two but there's still plenty of laughs to be had and this is easily the most heartfelt of the three movies. Might be a little biased because the show and these characters were such a huge part of my childhood but even that aside I still think this is a fairly decent family film. ff782bc1db
