Spotify Downloader Helper ("the Extension") is committed to protecting user privacy. The Extension's sole purpose is to inject user interface download controls into the Spotify Web Player (https://open.spotify.com/*) so users can easily transfer song, album, or playlist URLs to SpotDownloader for downloading.
2. Information Collection and Use
• Personal Data: The Extension does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information (PII), such as names, email addresses, IP addresses, browsing history, or Spotify account login credentials.
• Financial Information: The Extension does NOT collect or process any financial or payment information.
• Authentication Data: The Extension never requests or accesses your Spotify password or credentials.
3. Detailed Permissions Explanation
The Extension requests minimal browser permissions to operate:
• Content Script Match ("https://open.spotify.com/*"):
Used strictly to modify the web page interface of Spotify Web Player by adding green download buttons next to track list items and playlist action headers. No data from the host site is stored or transmitted externally by the content script other than initiating a browser tab navigation when a user explicitly clicks a download button.
• Background Service Worker ("background.js"):
Used solely to detect the initial extension installation event and launch an onboarding/welcome instructions web page.
4. Third-Party Websites
When you click a green download button injected by the Extension, a new browser tab opens SpotDownloader (spotdownloader.com) pre-populated with the public URL of the selected Spotify track or playlist. SpotDownloader is an independent third-party website operated under its own privacy policy and terms of service.
5. Data Security
Because the Extension does not collect or transmit user data to external servers, your browsing session remains entirely private and confined to your browser.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be posted with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
