A spiritual crisis is a form of identity crisis, typically caused by a spontaneous spiritual experience,
where an individual experiences drastic changes to their meaning system - i.e. their unique purposes, goals, values, attitude and beliefs, identity and focus

Possible symptoms of a spiritual crisis

  • The sudden collapse of one’s habitual ego and typical sense of reality, and an opening to a different one.

  • A powerful sense of connection to all things, perhaps a transcending of time, space and matter, and a deep sense of meaning and awe, leading to intense confusion and possibly depression.

  • Features of a “Kundalini Awakening” including intense energy surging through the body which can be unbearably strong or painful, often accompanied by shaking, jerking, or spasms.

  • Other typical symptoms include: Loss of meaning/purpose in life; Feeling ungrounded/disconnected from your body; Altered sense of self; Physical/emotional oversensitivity; Memories resurface with strong feelings; Mood swings or intense euphoria or depression. May involve lack of sleep, even fear or paranoia; Less interest/ability in work and family.

Who is this group for?

The group is suitable for people who are experiencing a spiritual crisis and seeking a safe space to share their feelings, get to know people who have had similar experiences, share resources, and receive validation for what they’re going through.

If you’ve had a spiritual experience(s) and are currently experiencing one or more of the above symptoms, this group might be for you.

What to expect?

This is not a therapy group. It’s a peer support group facilitated by Talia Michaeli, who had a spiritual crisis, and have been using it for her personal development and growth. Now, she wish to support others in doing the same.

Each meeting begins with a short grounding exercise and then each person have the opportunity, if they choose, to share what they’re currently going through and ask the group for input.
