Privacy Policy

Google Analytics (Google)

Google Analytics is a mobile app analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”)

Google utilizes the data collected to track and examine the use of Trip Planner, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may also use the data collected to personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

Please check Google’s privacy policy (in the above web-link “Privacy Policy”) to know better about the exact usage of User’s Personal Data. Also, have a look at the “Partners” section in the link to know about how Google uses data when you use an application that uses advertising products like AdMob or analytics tools like Google Analytics.

3. Google Maps API

Trip Planner uses the Google Maps API to access Google Maps and other Map data and does not store any information as part of Trip Planner database. Trip Planner also does not cache any user information like user location and simply shows certain Map data along the map like way points and driving or walking instructions as obtained from Google Maps API response.

By using services of Google Maps through Trip Planner, you agree to be bound by Google’s Terms of Service and Google’s additional terms of service for Google Maps.

Please see Google’s Privacy Policy as well.

4. Google Places API

Trip Planner uses the Google Places API to provide autocomplete service to users when filling the name or address of a place. Trip Planner is bound by the Google Maps API Terms of Service

5. Google Drive API

Trip Planner uses Google Drive API for Android to allow user to take backup of Trip Planner data and store it in the hidden Apps folder of Google Drive and restore from there to user's device (backup and restore features added in Trip Planner version 1.1). Trip Planner can delete those files for the proper functioning of backup and restore features provided by Trip Planner. In particular, when user creates backup for more than one time by clicking 'Backup Now' more than once, the previous backups are deleted. Also, when user clicks 'Restore Backup', the existing data of Trip Planner on user's device is overwritten by backup data present in user's google drive, App folder.

Trip Planner also uses Google Drive API for Android to allow user to upload trip summary to Google Drive. For this, Trip Planner accesses only those folder(s) and files in the root folder that are created by the Trip Planner application. For proper working of the Trip Planner application, Trip Planner can delete or modify only those files or folders that it has created. No other file or folder of the user on Google Drive is accessed.*

*Please Note that Trip Planner creates a folder with the name “Trip_Planner_Docs” in the root folder of user’s Google Drive. It also looks for a folder with this name in the root folder before creating one to prevent creation of multiple folders with this name. In some exceptional cases, Trip Planner application can end up creating more than one folder with the name “Trip_Planner_Docs” on Google Drive.

An example is: In case this folder is created offline in the device and due to network latency, it is not available online, and user uses the upload functionality of Trip Planner application from some other device with the same Google account where network is available. In this case, Trip Planner will create a folder with this name. Later, when network is available for the previous device, previously created folder with the same name is also available online.

The user is advised to not manually create any folder with the name “Trip_Planner_Docs” (in Google Drive's root folder) for proper working of the Trip Planner application as well as to hold true the privacy promise of the Trip Planner application (regarding our accessing folders only created by us (Trip Planner)). User can delete this folder though in the Google Drive and Trip Planner will create another folder with this name whenever user chooses the upload functionality for Trip Summary again.

Trip Planner adheres to Google API Terms of Service.

Trip Planner expects you to be bound to Google’s Terms of Service for using Google Drive features via Trip Planner.

6. Camera & Device Photos

Trip Planner uses the device’s camera to allow the user to take a photo for associating with the trip. The user can choose to take a new photo using camera or use any of the previously saved photos on the device and that photo is saved in the Trip Planner database for the particular trip. Trip Planner does not make any other use of the camera or device photos (For phone contact photos, see point 7 (Phone Contacts)).

7. Phone Contacts

Trip Planner accesses the phone contacts of the device and shows it as a list to the user so that user can choose trip mates from them. When the user chooses a contact, Trip Planner saves the contact name, photo thumbnail URI, phone number, phone number type (home etc.), email id, type of email id (home, work, etc.) in the Trip Planner database for that trip mate. Trip Planner does not use this information in any other way.

8. Call, SMS, Email, Vibrate

Trip Planner allows user to make call to saved trip mates by opening the phone dialler with the saved trip mate’s phone number filled on it. Please read point number 7 above (Phone Contacts) to know about Trip mates. Also, as described in the Help section in Trip Planner application, a single click by the user on trip mate's row in the Trip Mate list will cause a phone call to that trip mate.

Trip Planner allows the user to send SMS/message to saved trip mates or others by opening the message window of the default or user chosen messaging application and pre-filling phone numbers of saved trip mates in the "To" section. The user decides whether to send the message or not.

Trip Planner allows the user to send email to saved trip mates or others using the email application chosen by the user and pre-fills email addresses of saved trip mates in the "To" section of the email. The user decides whether to send email or not.

Trip Planner has added a permission for 'Device Vibrate' in its list of permissions to fix a bug that comes in JellyBean (4.x) devices that require vibrate permission in apps running reminder notifications.

Trip Planner does not use these services for any other purpose.
