6:30 pm - Gene Reynolds Stage
What better way to kick off the Spencer Picnic than with a gaggle of adorable kids competing to see who can come up with the wackiest costume? For more than a century the Spencer Picnic has been about providing our community with wholesome family fun, and there is no purer embodiment of that spirit than the Kiddie Parade. Don't miss out on what we believe is the cutest event you'll find at any fair all Summer long!
Contestants should come at 6:15pm to sign in and get a number. The theme of Picnic this year is "Fun in the Sun." Contestants may dress up according to the theme or in any costume they like.
There are prize-winning categories for both kinds of costumes. There are ample cash prizes and every contestant gets free ride tickets. Kids may be encouraged to come up with their own costumes or may wear their favorite dress-up gear, or the whole family can pitch in and make a family project of entering – building something elaborate to enhance the entry. Simple costumes with a good idea are always welcome as are costumes that reflect time, attention to detail and accessories. Whatever your family can manage is good.
Contestants do not need to live in the Spencer - Van Etten area. Visiting friends and relatives are very welcome to enter.
