110th Annual Spencer Picnic
To our Community Members, Partners, & Friends,
Due to circumstances resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of the 110th Annual Spencer Picnic have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event. After months of monitoring information from State, Federal, and local government agencies, and with consideration of social distancing guidelines and practices related to large group gatherings, we have concluded that cancelling this year’s Picnic is the safest and most responsible thing to do. Our first priority is the safety of our fairgoers, especially when those fairgoers are our family, friends, and neighbors.
We have not come to this decision lightly. We love our fair and what it stands for in our community. It is more than just a yearly excuse to reacquaint with old friends, play bingo, eat hot dogs, and ride a few rides. For many of our small businesses and non-profit organizations, vendors and partners, it is an important economic opportunity. It’s absence will surely be felt, especially during these trying times.
As caretakers of an event more than a century old, we feel a responsibility to make certain that we preserve this opportunity for generations to come, so we will be back next year, with the goal of making this event bigger and better than ever. We promise to do our best to make it worth the wait.
Be well and stay safe.
