Privacy Policy for Tripzy - Speedometer & Tracker
Last updated: 22.07.2026
Tripzy - Speedometer & Tracker ("the app") is a GPS speed and route tracking app. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and — just as importantly — what the app does not do with your data.
No account, no backend
The app has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. It does not communicate with any server operated by the developer. There is no backend to send your data to, because none exists.
Location data
The app uses your device's GPS to record speed, distance, and route only while you have explicitly started a recording session (tapped "Start Recording"). Location is never collected in the background outside of an active session.
- What is collected: latitude, longitude, timestamp, speed, GPS accuracy, altitude, and heading, sampled periodically during an active session.
- Where it is stored: exclusively in a local database on your device. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere.
- Background location: the app requests background location permission so that recording can continue if you lock your screen, switch to another app, or the screen turns off during a session. This is used only for the duration of an active recording session, shown via a persistent notification, and stops the moment you tap Stop.
- Your control: you can view all recorded sessions in the app's History screen and permanently delete any session (and its location data) at any time. Deleting a session removes it immediately and irreversibly from the device.
Advertising
The app shows banner ads served by Google's AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to support free use of the app. To serve and measure ads, Google's SDK may collect an advertising identifier and other device/usage information, independent of the app's own code. This data collection is governed by Google's own privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can control ad personalization for your device through your device's Google settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Permissions the app requests
- Location (while using the app / all the time): to record speed and route during a session.
- Notifications: required on Android 13+ to show the persistent "recording in progress" notification while a session is active in the background.
Data sharing and sale
The developer does not sell your data and does not share it with third parties, with the sole exception of the standard operation of the Google AdMob SDK described above, which is required for the app to display ads.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
