Thanks for the answer! I never knew mplayer could do this. However, this also changes the tuning of the song (as does alsaplayer). I *think* I once heard it's nowadays possible to change the speed without messing with the frequencies. Is this even thinkable?

My songs on my iphone 5 just increased in speed when I plugged in my headphones (came with the phone itself) and started playing songs. I'm wondering if its because I dropped my phone thrice today, but I thought again that it can't be because of that as my phone is protected with a flip cover and a screen protector. Any help is appreciated. Feel free to post even though you have no solutions and is having the same problem so I can feel more assured that its not something I did :S

Speed Up Songs

Hmm.. I'll try deleting and resyncing my music and try another headset when I can use my laptop. And I also realised it's not only when I plug in my headphones. It's when I play my songs on my music app on loudspeakers and headphones that the song speed is actually fast. Other than that, watching videos on YouTube and McTube is fine. Thanks for the help though guys!

I just checked, even without any cables plugged in, songs from my music app is still sped up. I've mentioned this before, but just to make sure that there's no misunderstandings, music from YouTube and McTube works fine. Oh and the bottom of my earphones is white

Songs speed up then slow down like a broken record player Lately my music will speed and slow as if it were being played on a record player or something. It doesn't cut out, but will slow to like 3/4 speed and then next second its up to 1.25 speed or something like that... its weird. I would expect it to cut out if the bandwidth was low. Having said that....

IPhone 11pro

Connection good so should be totally fine.

Latest update installed.

Any idea whats going on?

Hoping this situation will be familiar to someone who can suggest a solution. When I listen to a Pandora stream with my iPad over WiFi, I frequently experience what best can be described as wow and flutter. Songs/Tunes speed up and slow down during playback as if someone was putting their finger on a turntable or the belt was going bad.

Is there an option for speed control while listening to audiobooks in the Poweramp full version? I'm asking of there is any way to speed up audio, for some reason, I thought Poweramp was able to speed up playback for audiobooks or music, but now I cant find the option.

Thanks for the reply but I cant find the option anywhere. I checked all settings to make sure it want disabled, but when I go to the EQ/Tone Volume page there are no options for tempo. The second page only shows Balance knob/mono button/stereo x knob/ volume knob. I tried swiping but no other screens come up. I swear I used this function before but cant find a trace of it now. I see screenshots online where people used to have it but now it seems to have been removed. I switch to landscape mode and still cant get Poweramp to increase the playback speed of audiobooks or music. Any suggestions as to my issue? I purchased the full version but maybe thats what disabled the option to increase tempo with Poweramp.

Thanks again for the replies, I hand not installed the alpha so I must have been using my phones default app to speed up audio books. Ill keep an eye out for its release though. it will be nice to have speed/tempo as a feature on the live version.

This is mainly for audio books, I don't listen to much music anymore. I just wanted a simple option of speeding up the file so I can finish it faster, some authors read very slowly. Ill check out the app you linked but it seems like Poweramp is the only app that doesn't let users control speed or pitch. Ive noticed lots of complaints in Reddit threads about other simple features being left out. The most common recommendations for replacement are Blackplayer and GoneMAD. Gonna try em all and see which is simpler.

Music Speed Changer online web app lets you change the speed and pitch of audio files on your phone tablet and desktop in real time without affecting the pitch (time stretch), or change the pitch without changing the speed (pitch shift). You can save the altered audio to a new MP3 file. The app is a music looper as well - slow down song speed and loop sections of music for practice.

Music Speed Changer is great for musicians practicing an instrument needing to slow down the tempo or practice in a different tuning, speeding up audio books for faster listening, making nightcore, changing a tracks's pitch or just rocking out to your favorite song at 130%.

Another fan of slowed down songs here--my buddies and I used to play records slowed down for fun; even made a mixtape called 45s on 33 once! My recollection is that audiostretch won't quite get what you're looking for as it maintains the pitch as it slows down--maybe the loop playback mode in Samplr or something similar?> @Lurcher said:

The speed is the amount of "ticks" each note lasts, so a speed of 1 means 1 tick per note and a speed of 16 means 16 ticks per note. Exactly how long a tick is is undocumented, but from my own testing I think it's approximately one 120th of a second (if someone knows the exact value please let me know!).

Change the tempo of your audio files without changing their pitch with this free online audio speed changer. Slow down and speed up music tracks and songs to jam along and practice your instrument!

The algorithm behind audio speed changer uses time stretching to achieve a faster or slower playback without changing the pitch of the sound. This helps keep the key of the music even at double speed, allowing you to play along without re-tuning your instrument or transposing the piece.

Music Speed Changer is an audio speed changer and pitch shifter tool for audio files on your device, where the tempo change is in real time without affecting the pitch (time stretch), and the pitch change occurs without changing the audio speed (pitch shift). This type of audio speed changing has many uses from practising instruments, to slowing down or speeding up recorded lectures for learning, to learning new moves in dance class, to speeding up audio books, to making nightcore or slowed reverb remixes from your favourite tracks.

Quickly and easily change the speed and audio pitch of your music independently in real time. You may also adjust tempo and pitch together, similar to spinning a vinyl record faster and slower. Perfect Music Transposition, 440hz to 432hz Conversion, Nightcore Editor and Slowed + Reverb Player.

Like many people, I listen to podcasts sped up. Anywhere from 1.5x - 2x speed, and it's great. I probably wouldn't listen to podcasts at all if I couldn't speed them up. These days, people's voices don't sound like chipmunks when you speed up digital audio, because instead of merely playing the audio faster, the sample rate is reduced and the remaining audio is stitched together. Think of it like pulling out tiny slices of audio and then pressing the remaining slices together - this is called the "sampling method," and it's used for all types of media content that have duration - (think podcasts and videos). Nice coverage of the topic from WaPo here.

To begin with, of course music is going to sound somewhat worse -- lower sample rates entail lower fidelity. It's a general guideline to record audio of all types in 44100HZ - which means audio is sampled 23 times every .00050th of a second -- or 46,000 times in a second. Which seems really high. So even if you speed a 44100HZ video up 2x, you still get 23,000 samples per second. It's still going to be recognizable with that much data, but it's longer going to be as high-def.

First, I wanted to make sure that YouTube's speed controller is in fact using the sampling method (described above). I checked out the code, and it uses Chromium's API to change the speed. And sure enough, Chromium changes the sample rate of the audio, so the sampling method is confirmed.

If you have other theories or songs that don't fit these patterns and still sound like garbage when you speed them up, let me know. Also, I found that vibrato gets ruined when it's sped up with the sampling technique, but can anyone explain why? Since the distance between two notes used in vibratto is essentially infinite, maybe we lose too many samples of the note changing, causing the 'buzzing' effect... something along those lines? The album was recorded and released in the midst of Wings' highly successful Wings Over the World tour, with songs from the album performed on the tour after its release. Subsequently, performances of "Let 'Em In", "Time to Hide", 'Silly Love Songs' and "Beware My Love" were included on the live album Wings over America, released in December 1976.

As a reaction to critics who believed Wings was merely a vehicle for Paul McCartney, the album featured every member of the band taking lead vocals on at least one song, and two songs from the album are written or co-written by band members other than the McCartneys.

I have been experiencing such behavior since 3.6 already but never really took interest in what was happening as it affected me very seldom, last weekend I experienced such slow behavior but it was briefly with a few tracks, then the speed would just be back to normal. I want to playback an .mp3 file at 50% it's original speed, naturally pitched down (i.e. keeping the pitch is not my requirement).I am using pygame.mixer and found several solutions (such as this one) that suggest changing the frequency on initialization should do the job as shown below, however that does not work for me. 2351a5e196
