Hey,

I have Sophos Firewall for Home installed on my proxmox. I have a 500Mb/s download and 100Mb/s upload connection. Unfortunately when downloading anything from the internet the maximum speed I can download at is 20MB/s it gets to that 20 and is unable to go higher. I did a speed test directly from the CLI and downloads were up to 56-60MB/s. Whereas on the workstation it is as I mentioned max 20MB/s. The version of my firmware is 20GA.

This mostly works the way I want (I'm updating the speed every 4 seconds or so), but there are always some crazy spikes in the download rate as it fluctuates. My average download speed is around 600 kB/s, and sometimes it shows 10.25 MB/s or even negative values like -2093848 B/s. How could this be?

I have been having exactly the same problem! I too am on a MBP with over 250GB free (started with over 400GB) last night. I am on a cable network with d/l consistently over 115mbps and with the dropbox icon showing 9627KB/sec, 27 mins left (it said only 1 hour left 6 hours ago), and yet this has been downloading for more than 12 hours now! I realize my download is much larger, but even so, there is no reason that anyone's downloads should take 12 hours with speeds such as these! Dropbox is throttling us even though we subscribe to DBPro! Uploading to DB doesn't even take a quarter of the time it does to download!

Dropbox pro account and encountering the same issue here. Strange that when I change ISPs the download speed improves (downloading from my ADSL office internet connection gets me 2mb/s download) but my home (fibre) ISP download from dropbox is abysmal. My ISP has assured me they don't throttle and I have no trouble with updloads or downloads to other services. I'm on fibre with 25/10 at home but I'm only getting 100-200kbps download from dropbox - what gives? Seriously reconsidering the value of a "pro" account.

Hi, past two weeks I am experiencing extremely low download speeds from dropbox. I work together with a photographer who has a DB pro subscription for years and suddenly the files from his dropbox take hours to download or even days when its videoclips bigger than 500MB.

Recently my local drive breaks down and I need all my data sync back to my computer. However during the process I find the internet connection speed through Insync is by far slower than direct connection using Google Sync or direct Download from Google Web.

That won't do you any good. There are so many things that affect speed that you could have two people with an identical setup and still have wildly different speeds. Your computer, your local network, your ISP, the route your traffic takes to get to Dropbox, the Dropbox network and servers, congestion along any part of the route to Dropbox, throttling by your ISP (very common), failures along the route that cause your traffic to take another path, etc.

What I would say though is that it will speed up once the initial folder creation is completed and it gets on to larger files. Dropbox sync's smallest -> largest and as smallest has the most overheads these are slowest to download.

That doesn't help me much - I can't believe downloads can be this slow. I've got a fast computer and just about the fastest internet that you can get and I'm still only getting 20MB/s. What are the fastest speeds other people are getting?

The speed from your ISP is likely listed in Kb/s or Mb/s; megabits. The speeds reported by Dropbox are in KB/s or MB/s; bytes. You need to do the conversion before you can simply compare them.

Also, the speed you see from Dropbox isn't simply the transfer speed of the data. Each file that you upload is hashed, compressed, then transferred, encrypted, and stored on the Dropbox servers. That entire process is included in the aggregate speed that's displayed in the Dropbox sync status. In other words, the speed reported by Dropbox is not just a transfer speed, but the speed at which the entire process is being completed. The actual transfer speed is higher, but when you factor in the entire process, it appears lower.

That's the equivalent of a 108Mbps connection, which is fast. Again, remember, that's NOT just the transfer speed to/from Dropbox. That's the speed in which your files are processed, start to finish, with all the hashing, compressing, encrypting, etc., that takes place during the process.

And, again, 13.5MBps is not the same as 13.5Mbps. It IS the same as 108Mbps. A 13.5MBps speed to Dropbox is fast. Likely one of the fastest reported speeds I've seen to Dropbox.

Turbo Download Manager (3rd edition) is a multi-threading download manager with a built-in tool to grab video, audio, and image sources from web pages using the internal HTML spider. Similar to IDM (Internet Download Manager), and JDownloader, this extension has a built-in tool to increase the downloading speed by fetching multiple segments of the file simultaneously. This downloader is written purely in JavaScript (there are no external dependencies).

Features:

1. Resuming broken downloads and error recovery: When the downloading process is interrupted (e.g. lost connections, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages), you don't need to start from the beginning.

2. Pausing active jobs: To temporarily reduce network traffic when it is needed

3. Dynamic segmentation and speed acceleration: Splits files into several sections and downloads them simultaneously in an internal IndexedDB database, allowing you to use any type of connection at the maximum available speed.

4. Enhanced audio/video files support: Has internal HTML spider module to detect media (video, audio) and image sources

5. Built-in M3U8 parser and Live Stream downloader (HLS) with AES-128 decryption support.

This download manager can be used to accelerate your downloading speed or to improve download stability on low-quality networks. The extension is integrated into your browser download manager as much as possible.

It's been up and fine since I bought it (maybe 2-3yrs?) and just started this about 6 days ago. I can't get the numbers any higher through the router, but if I connect direct from computer to modem, speed is fine.

What's going on? I'm on firmware v.1.0.0.32 and router now displays there's a firmware update. I am somewhat reluctant to try this, as I need to be connected even at this crippling speed. I just won't be able to download new Linux builds or Windows Images until this problem gets resolved.

Problem:

Multiple users around the world in different countries have incredible low download speeds, f.e. ISP Connection 120mbit, but MSFS2020 is downloading only with 1 to 20 mbit/s. The problem is there since release and is touching not only the download for the whole game or major updates, but also the ingame download through the marketplace.

Multiple users are reporting that at the same time, online speedtest and f.e Steam downloads have no problem and are giving the full download speed bandwith, so that it appears that its not a individual connection problem. Often the only thing which helps them is using a VPN and trying out different servers, sometimes even in the same country as they are located.

I managed to download the whole installation in about 2 hours with the max speed shown on some of the larger files at over 250MBps.

Subsequent updates all downloaded very quickly and in line with my expectations of a 300MBps connection.

The only thing which helps me is using a free VPN.

So for anyone who tried every step and is still suffering from download speeds like it is 2001 and doesnt want to pay for a VPN or give credit card informations:

The VPN connection also goes through your 2 routers, so its highly unlikely that its the 2 routers fault. Also basically everyone has slow download speed for msfs2020, the fault is on Asobo/Microsofts side.

Apart form the fact that I was getting good download speeds, then for a few months bad download speeds (maybe I messed up some settings) but now after making some adjustments to my network card settings and windows settings I am reliably getting close to my 300Mbps that my ISP provides.

Folx is a download manager with multi-threading support, which means each download can be split in up to 20 simultaneous threads. Since multiple connections are initiated to the same server, a download speed can improve significantly.

With smart speed control enabled, Folx will automatically adjust download or upload speed if there is Internet traffic from a browser or another app. So you can still have a satisfactory surfing speed while Folx is working on the downloads.

The download speed on your Mac depends on many factors. Some of them are external ones which we can hardly handle, like speed limitations set by a website or the type of wires your Internet Service Provider uses to transmit the Internet signal. The other factors are actually the system ones and can be successfully controlled by an accurate management of the download process in general.

The useful tips may be not to start multiple downloads at a time, to pause less important downloads to provide more traffic to the most urgent ones or to limit your upload rate. The fastest and the most comprehensive way to boost your download speed is to adjust the special features your download manager provides. Folx, for example, possesses a whole spectrum of useful features which help to increase download speed. ff782bc1db
