Speaker Studio App Download __EXCLUSIVE_

Although I've been taking production classes for a few months, I'm just now investing in speakers (been using headphones & an audio interface). I really hate having a bunch of wires & want some bluetooth speakers. However, all the tutorials I see on youtube discuss wired speakers & hooking up the cords. So, I'm wondering if bluetooth speakers are compatible w/ studio one & good for producing. I would really appreciate some insight. Thank you.

When you look through the internet, you may find a class of speakers that is called Studio Monitors, and there is also a very similar class of speakers called Bookshelf speakers. Sometimes there are disputed ideas for either type of speaker, and so here I try to differentiate them.

First, looking through some forums, such as head-fi.org, you may realize there are differences between studio monitors and bookshelf speaker. Because these responses are from the general population (people), take it with a grain of salt. The second response in the forum linked above will tell you about how studio monitors and bookshelf loudspeakers are different, but in the end, I agree with the opinion stated by this responder in reddit.com on the goal of both types of speakers. Both the goal of any speaker in general is to give a flat response, and be as accurate as possible in reproducing sound.

The only difference between them is their purpose. Bookshelf have a more general purpose of being listened to from various distances, far or short, while studio monitors are listened to in generally shorter distances, in a studio recording setting. For the added convenience and reduction in total costs necessary, studio monitors are most of the time active speakers, with built-in amplifier to produce the sound needed, and have connections required in a studio setting.

Wait, but the title says only monitors, not studio monitors, and all I have been going on about is about studio monitors vs bookshelf speakers. Yes, I have been going on about studio monitors, as they count as monitors. They are the most compared to with bookshelf speakers But now, I shall explain monitors and bookshelf speakers in general.

Many of my research lead to confusing information about monitors and bookshelf speakers. There are clashing ideas of the two, as shown here in the whathifi.com forum, and due to the lack of information I cannot objectively conclude. But I will conclude subjectively, because I want my opinions on this topic to be shared.

Posting this to safe other studio display users a lot of time and hassle. YOU HAVE TO RESTART your studio display on occasion, especially if you run into issues with the3 camera, microphone or speakers. The studio display runs its own internal version of IOS that operates the camera, speakers and microphone. Much like ANY other device that runs its own operating system, you can't run it indefinitely without ever restarting it. You will eventually run into issues and your device does funny stuff. I got my studio display on march 18th and yesterday the camera started acting up, then the microphone etc. After hours with Apple support and trying all kind of things to isolate the issue, it occurred to me that we did EVERYTHING except restart/reboot the display itself. because it has no power button and no software control to restart it, the only way to do it is to unplug it from the power source, wait at least 1 full minute and plug it back in. Of course it immediately solved all the issues. So if your display - or for that matter any of your other devices - starts acting up. Restart it that way to see if the issue resolves. Apple: please implement a firmware update that allows for rebooting the display via system preferences rather than having to crawl ion the floor find the plug, unplug it, wait, plug it back in.

*It was only after this incident that I started looking at Google and within 1 search "apple studio display speakers not working" I found this post. Thank you so much for posting the solution. Rebooting the monitor did the trick!!

well its a monitor so its unusual having to do that. But it is upsetting that 2 months later Apple support still has not caught on to this as the first go-to solution when studio display customers call with weird issues.

My audio was terrible through the display speakers and I was about to resign myself to sending the display back to Apple (difficult when it's the only one I have), when I remembered the thing has its own processor so I went in search of advice on rebooting it and found your advice. It worked perfectly and the audio is now OK.

I have the issue that the fan in my display is running on max all the time, even if the cable is unplugged. Sounds exactly like the computer fan but realised that it is the studio display that makes the noise. I have restarted the screen several times, updated with the latest firmware but no luck. Anyone that knows how to reset the firmware?
