Welcome to the homepage of Dr. Shyama Prasad Das. Dr. Das received his PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in 2006. He worked as a fellow scientist at National Aerospace Laboratories Bangalore for nearly three years from 2009 to 2012 before joining IIT Madras. He also worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Laboratoire des Ecoulements Geophysiques et Industriels, Grenoble, France and at Centre de Thermique de Lyon, Villeurbanne, France for three years from 2006 to 2009.
His research primarily focuses on fluid mechanics and heat transfer, encompassing areas such as unsteady boundary layer separation, fluid-structure interactions, flow past bluff bodies, hydrodynamic instabilities, and pulsating heat pipes, while also addressing free surface wave problems, including instabilities in gravity- and capillary wave-dominated surface waves, heat and mass transfer across liquid-vapor interfaces due to surface waves, slosh-induced instabilities in binary liquid systems, and turbomachinery challenges like flow in compressors and turbines in air-handling machines, as well as the design and development of axial flow turbines.
