From space to species
Our mission
The Spatial Biology Lab develops Earth Observation methods for monitoring biodiversity and planet Earth's health. We apply geographical information systems, remote sensing data and techniques, ecological niche models, and spatial statistics to ecology and nature conservation.
Our main research areas are:
Earth Observation
Biodiversity monitoring & modelling
Spatial ecology
Biogeography
Applied conservation

The group of Terrestrial Ecology of the University of Córdoba (Spain) works in the ecology of insects, vegetal ecology, interactions between plants and animals, and ecology and management of wild fauna. The research makes extensive use of remote sensing and spatial techniques. Our main collaborator is Prof. Salvador Arenas-Castro. The group belongs to the Department of Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology of the University of Córdoba.
The RS and GIS FCUP Lab is a multidisciplinary group from FCUP (professors, researchers, phd candidates and research fellows) that works in partnership with Prof. Ana Teodoro in the fields of Remote Sensing and GIS. This group develop research work in the fields of remote sensing applications (Coastal areas, Environmental, Geology, Health, Forests, Land Use Land Cover, Urban Areas and Education) and GIS plugins.
