Spartanburg PART is pushing for a 'Skip the Stuff' ordinance — a simple rule that restaurants only hand out plastic utensils, straws, and condiments when a customer actually asks. Nobody loses anything: if you want a fork, you get a fork. It just stops the automatic waste and saves restaurants time and money. Other cities/states have seen restaurants cut supply costs while cutting plastic waste by a third or more. We think Spartanburg can do the same.

We collect unused/unwanted plastic cutlery and distribute it to Spartanburg homeless shelters
Clean out your Drawers Plastic Cutlery Collection Drives:
Did you get unwanted plastic cutlery with your takeout and now you don’t know what to do with it? This fall, during the week before Thanksgiving (16-20 November 2026), PART and the Pine Street Elementary School (PSES) Green Team will be collecting unused/unwanted plastic cutlery (in its original wrapper) to redistribute it to Spartanburg homeless shelters. Please encourage your students who go to PSES to clean out their kitchen drawers and save their unused plasticware for this drive!
Also, PART will have an informational table and PART Buckets (to collect wrapped, unused plastic cutlery) at the Spartanburg Hub City Farmers Market (498 Howards St., Spartanburg, SC) on the following Saturdays: 7, 14 and 21 November 2026.
