How to Insert Accent Marks
As you may have seen, in Spanish there are many letters that require accent marks (ñ, á, é, í, ó, ú) and special punctuation symbols such as the upside-down question mark (¿) and the exclamation mark (¡). For certain Canvas quizzes and assignments you will be required to know how to type these special letters and symbols on your computer.
To insert accent marks using a desktop/laptop with the Windows operating system you will need to use the "International Keyboard."

If you have an older version of windows, follow these steps:
Go to the Windows Control Panel
Select "Clock, Language and Region"

How to insert accent marks on a Chromebook
Set your keyboard languages
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings.
On the left panel, select Advanced Languages and inputs.
Under "Languages and inputs," select Inputs.
Under "Input methods," select Add input methods.
Select the keyboard languages you want to use Add.
"Enabled" is listed under the current keyboard.
Use the following key strokes to insert accent marks on a Chromebook:
Acute (á, é, í, ó, ú) : apostrophe key ' then the letter
Tilde ñ : Shift + ~then the letter n
Punctuation ¿ or ¡ Alt (the small Alt button to the right of the space bar) + ? or !
Umlaut/diaresis (ü): Shift + 'then letter
