Participation & Drop Policy

Participation Policy

If you are actively engaged and you participate in the course, you will learn! The class period is one of the few times during the week that you will have the opportunity to practice and develop your oral skills in Spanish. Regular participation, measured by consistent engagement and completion of in-class activities, is expected of each student. In the situation that you miss a course for any reason, you may make up the lost participation points by attending Profesora Tania's student drop-in hours within two weeks of the missed course. If you know that you are going to be absent in advance, you may attend any of Profesora Tania’s Spanish V01 sections during the same week of your absence. Profesora Tania has two sections of Spanish V01 during the Spring 2023 semester that meet on Wednesdays 10:00-11:50 a.m. and Thursdays 1:00-2:50 p.m. Both of these Spanish V01 courses meet in MCE 220.

Drop Policy

All students, both registered and on the waitlist, are expected to attend the first class meeting in order to remain enrolled. Students who do not attend the first day of class will be dropped. The instructor is required to drop students who quit attending prior to the census date (Jan. 29). After the census date, it is the student’s responsibility to initiate and drop the class themselves. If a student fails to drop the course before the final drop deadline (Jan. 29), the instructor is required to record a grade for that student.
