1. Field Day #2 - Entry Form and General Info is posted (under menu "Field Days")
   Saturday 2024/June/22, 12:30pm tee, at Twin Lakes in Federal Way.  Entry form is posted to web.
   This FDay will double as a Play-off for our 1st Half points leaders.
   Please submit your Entry Form by Saturday June/15 (timeliness helps the SCGL Officers run the FDay).
   
   

2. Write Gross Totals on the Scorecard
   The Scorekeeper must calculate & clearly write the gross total for each golfer on the scorecard.
   Lately a few incomplete scorecards have lacked these totals.
   This often enables me to interpret other per-hole numbers on the card which maybe were not written clearly and unambiguously.
   
   

3. Cross check your gross totals with the Scorekeeper
   Already this season there have been a few scorecard errors that caused concern - errors which would have been caught by the standard comparisons of gross totals after the final hole.
   Each golfer should keep his own score, even if he does not really "care" about his own score.
   This effort will help ensure that the other golfers are awarded the correct number of Points.
   The Scorekeeper should help to organize this quick cross check.
   
   

4. Weeks # 09-10 - Tee Pairings will be "Best-7" weeks of Points; not Random
   After week#10 (Thur 2024/June/13), everybody restarts at 0 Points.
   Until week#11, the tee pairings will start with the golfers having the most points, lumped into the same 3somes.
   
   

5. 2024/05/24 Friday - Be More Careful, do not hit  into other golfers
   Wait until the golfers in front of you are far enough ahead that your shot cannot possibly hit them.
   There have been too many reported incidents, so we need to be more careful.  Thank you.
   
   

6. 2024/05/10 Friday - New Members in SCGL
   In Week #05 May/09, Space Club has three new official active members:

   • Greg Saints - work associate of Carey.G

   • Mark James - Has played in the BEGA league called the 'Testers' in recent years, but he needs to shift to Thursdays.

   • Tony Koth - Same as his pal Mark James.
      
     
     

7. 2024/05/01 Wednesday - Field Day 1 Results are posted
   NOTABLES:

   • On Saturday 2024/04/27 at North Shore: Best gross score was Larry Markeson (79).

   • Second  best gross score was by Jeff Roberts (88); and everybody else was over 90+. North Shore ain't easy.

   • Ray Irion had the best gross score among Flight_2 (91), despite his anomolous gross 10 on the 10th hole. So a good round.

   • Only birdie all day was by Eric Andersen.

   • Gil Gardner & Larry Markeson were the only two golfers who had no hole worse than a Double-Bogey. Nice.

   • Rick Petosa & Mike Lewis were the only two Flight_2 golfers to avoid any Quad-Bogeys (or worse).

   • Prizes are posted (click "Field Days" etc in the above Table-of-Contents). Remember that no person may win more than 1 prize; which explains why Gene Milener won Flight_1 Low Gross with a 94  :-)
     
     
     

8. 2024/04/28 Sunday - wk#03 reports Re-posted
   The Microsoft Access database (*.mdb file) has a few Index/Handicap values that were off by 1.  This is caused by double entry of rounds.  For complicated technical reasons, these round duplications cannot be undone.
   The Points calculation relies on the Index/Handicap.  Therefore, for a few scorecards, the Points originally earned during wk#01 or wk#02 are now overridden with slightly different Points amounts for a few players.  An override can slightly help or slightly hurt a given golfer.
   On our website , I have re-posted the Handicaps and Standing reports (and a couple others) with the latest data.
   I apologize for this mistake.  I wrongly assumed that when I opened Access database file "space-2024.MDB" that Access would edit that file, and only that file.  Turns out there is a behind-the-scenes master file that Access really edits.  I think I briefly knew this 15 months ago, but I had long since forgotten this out-of-sight behavior.  Now I could not forget about this behind-the-scenes file even if I wanted to.

10. 2024/02/18 - SUBMIT YOUR 2024 SIGN-UP FORM!
    The form is no longer a non-editable PDF, as it was in 2023.
    Instead, the 2024 form is a plain TXT file that you can copy-&-paste from the form webpage.
    Or, you can click the browser's Download button on the SignUp Form webpage (near top-right).
    Then you can paste the text into an email, or into Notepad.exe etc.
    Next, simply type in your edits to fill in the fields with your information.
    Then, send your completed form to Derek.H (instructions are in the form).

11. 2024/03/25 - DIVISION ASSIGNMENTS are POSTED for 2024
    For the first 3 of our 20 routine official weekly rounds, the freshly re-balanced Division assignments are now posted.
    Between rounds 3 & 4, the two divisions will be re-balanced again. The final re-balance occurs between rounds 10 & 11.
    One Div_2 player is moved up to Div_1. Three new players are added to Div_2.
    The Div assignments are in the form of the Tee Pairing sequence for real Round #1 on Thursday 2024/04/11 (4pm tee).

12. 2024/02/16 - PRESIDENT'S LETTER SENT TO OPEN 2024
    On Friday Feb/16 the Secretary (me, Gene Milener) sent the 2024 President's Letter to all SCGL members.

13. 2024/01/21 -  FIRST THURSDAY IN 2024 IS - MARCH/28
    March/28 is our League Appreciation round for 2024.
    Please come play.
    Auburn GC has reserved 12 tee times for SCGL, and will give SCGL 40 $10 gift cards.
    To be a friendly league in return, SCGL wants to deliver good attendance.
    If SCGL ever becomes erratic at delivering attendance, we could lose our big time-slot of reservations, and we could never find another big slot.
    Any brand new players for 2024 should give their scorecard to the SCGL Secretary (Gene Milener), to establish an Index (Handicap) before our official  round in week#-01 April/11.
    
    Similarly, please come play in our Practice round on Thursday April/04.
    
    
    

14. 2024/01/20 - SCHEDULE FOR 2024 IS POSTED
    A link elsewhere on this Home webpage opens the SCGL 2024 League Schedule (CTRL+F for "schedule").
    The schedule provides dates for items including at least the following:
    * Special outings, such as League Appreciation Day, and our Practice round.
    * All ten of our official rounds for our First Half competition, and for our Second Half competitions.
    * Our three weekend Field Days.
    * All twenty of our Weekly Fun Competitions, and each winning golfer.
    
    
    

15. 2024/01/18 - NEW WEBSITE 2024
    Our old 2023 SCGL website on Weebly.com is entirely deprecated for 2024. It was: 'https://SpaceClubGolf.weebly.com/'.
    Starting in 2024, our new website is here at: 'https://sites.google.com/view/SpaceClubGolf/'.
    One major reason for this change to a new webhost is for much better file management. We now use the Google Drive cloud that is automatically associated with our SpaceClubGolf.GMAIL.com email account. This simplifies our system. For instance, this simplicity makes it easier to transition the SCGL Secretary role to another member.
    Another major reason is for better coordination between the files and the webpages. For instance, a file can be updated and its updates will appear on the website without the need to re-upload the file to the webhost.
