We all agree that we live in an age of abundant data, advanced technology, and globalization. And this brings up an importation question for us: are we utilizing our resources to the maximum level as we possibly can? As a Business Analyst with a background in CPG industry and a formal Business Intelligence major student, I think there are a lot that Business Intelligence can offer to understand consumers and open undiscovered opportunities in the Marketing and Sales world.
One great example of using Business Intelligence in Marketing is text mining. The most popular text mining software are RapidMiner Text Mining and Python. But today, I will talk about how SAS Enterprise Minor can develop predictive models that identifies consumer insights. But before we begin, what is consumer insights?
Most of us are familiar with the traditional marketing methods. When I took Introduction to Marketing course in 2013, I learned that there are research methods as listed below.
All of them were used to be mostly quantitative except for interviews. On the other hand, consumer insights has a notion of creating a storytelling, and these are more qualitative than the traditional methods. Also, Marketers now focus on scenario analysis and consumer narratives to figure out why what happens in a consumer's mind during a decision making process.
And SAS Enterprise Minor is a great tool to perform a consumer insights analysis with its text mining and predictive modeling tools. You will first perform variable analysis to see what data tells us and then review text clusters to create a synonym list to strengthens relationships within a cluster to create models.
It is truly amazing to see how technology progresses over time. I was already amazed with what I could do with current technology last year. However, as we know, people always try to make things better and I am very excited to see how versatile data analysis software will get in the future.

While I was taking a Finance course in my MBA program, Professor. Rennie recommenced our whole class to take this online class, Bloomberg Market Concepts. I thought it is a great idea and I started this online class.
First of all, I enjoyed working towards this certification because I had a full access to Bloomberg Terminal. I was able to check financial performance and valuation of every company that I am interested in and do a performance review. Also, it taught me more about economic indicators, currencies, fixed income, and equities outside of classroom in a practical way.
I was already studying Finance in my MBA program, however, earning this certification was an eye-opening experience and really broadened my knowledge in Finance. Now, I cannot thank Professor. Rennie enough for introducing me Bloomberg.
