This administration has decided to end Medicare and Medicaid funding millions of people. The impacts to rural Oregon will be devastating and significant. We also have the strong possibility of losing several rural Oregon hospitals which will make accessing healthcare more difficult for everyone. It feels hopeless but we are still a community that cares about each other. Check in on your neighbors and see how you can help them, talk to your local medical professionals and volunteer when you can.

Transgender youth and adults are facing limitations and barriers to their treatments. Learn the facts about trans healthcare. Check on your trans and gender-nonconforming community. Read books centering the 2SLGBTQIA+ community so you have a better understanding of experiences. Then fight misinformation with your new-found knowledge, call your reps to ask them to protect queer folks, PROTEST, and ask your friends what they need. Track current trans health legislation here. Do they need a ride to feel safe to their next appointment? Do they need you to order hormones to your home? How can we help them?

The Fight for Health Care and Disability Services

Medicaid provides essential services to millions of people with disabilities, so they can live healthier, fuller lives- but they are also under at risk of losing valuable programs and resources. Take action by advocating for the full inclusion and civil rights of all people. 

MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA

The Medicaid program provides public health insurance to over 72 million Americans and is the largest single payer for mental health services in the United States. It covers approximately 26% of all mental health treatment costs and roughly 40% of total spending for addiction. Deep cuts would create barriers to health coverage and reduce critical mental health services for those who depend on Medicaid and would jeopardize mental health care access for millions of Americans. Urge Congress to support mental health and take action now. 

Although we live in a state with protected abortion rights, the states around us are quickly taking away rights from folks who need abortion services. This means our clinics will become more and more used. Donate to an abortion fund. Figure out if you are a person who might be able to provide free accommodations for a traveler.
