South Korean Women's Soccer Draws 0-0 With North Korea

The South Korean women's national soccer team continued its hopes of advancing to the 2024 Paris Olympics by drawing against North Korea.

South Korea, led by coach Colin Bell, failed to win 0-0 against North Korea in the second Group B match of the second Asian qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics held at Xiamen Egret Stadium in Fujian, China on the 29th.

South Korea and North Korea both recorded one win and one draw (four points). South Korea (+9) ranked first in goal difference, while North Korea (+1) ranked second.

The Asian qualifiers for the Paris Olympics will be divided into three groups, with the best-performing first team among the first and second-ranked teams in each group advancing to the semifinals. After that, the two teams that won the semifinals will be given tickets to the Olympic finals.

South Korea is more likely to reach the semifinals if it wins the final group match against home team China on November 1.

Prior to the match, South Korea was also overwhelmingly inferior to North Korea with one win, three draws and 16 losses. In the most recent showdown, the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, they suffered a 1-4 defeat amid dubious referee decisions.

However, it was different in the face-to-face match on this day. South Korea maintained a tight balance with North Korea throughout the match, playing an even game. In the front, Casey Eugene Fair and Chun Garam actively moved, and Ji So-yeon also created a chance.

In the second half, North Korea's offensive became stronger, but South Korea strengthened its defense and prevented North Korea's attack. In the end, neither team was able to open the opponent's goal until the end whistle, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
