Dr. Sourav Mitra did his B.Sc. (Physics Hons.) and M.Sc. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata (India). He obtained his PhD from Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad (India) in 2013. He was a post-doctoral fellow in University of the Western Cape (UWC), Cape Town, Republic of South Africa (2013-16) and the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, India (2016-17). Since May, 2017 he is working at Surendranath College, Kolkata (India) as Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. His current research interests include Astrophysics and Cosmology, mainly analytic and semi-analytic galaxy formation modeling, intergalactic medium and reionization, structure formation in the Universe. He has more than 20 publications in International journals. He was awarded as Young Astronomer of the Year by the Astronomical Society of India, 2013 and INSPIRE Faculty Award by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, 2017. Apart from Physics, he has interests in photography, gardening and aquascaping.
