This Privacy Policy explains how Music Player Team ("we", "our", or "the developer") handles information in connection with SoundWave Music Player ("the App") — a music and video player with local library management, internet radio, online music discovery, gamification, and optional SoundWave Plus premium features. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
Creating an account is optional. If you choose to sign in, you may do so with:
Email and password — your email address and a hashed password are stored on our authentication server (Supabase).
Google Sign-In — Google provides us with your Google account email address and a unique Google ID token.
When an account is created we also collect a Google-assigned App Set ID for your device. This identifier is used solely to enforce the one-free-trial-per-device policy and is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
You may also optionally set a display name and choose an avatar within the App. These are stored in your account profile and are visible to friends you add and, if you participate, on the public leaderboard.
Account data (signed-in users only):
Email address, user ID, optional display name and avatar
App Set ID (device trial enforcement only)
Listening statistics (signed-in users only, synced to cloud):
Total plays, total listening minutes, play events with timestamps
Unique artists and genres played, peak listening hour
Morning plays (5–10 AM), night-owl plays (midnight–5 AM), radio plays
Listening streak (consecutive days), playlists created count
These stats power your Listener Level, badges, and leaderboard ranking
Advertising data (all users, via Google AdMob):
Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID / GAID)
Device type, model, and operating system version
IP address (used to approximate general location for ad targeting)
App usage interactions with advertisements
Push notifications:
If you grant notification permission, your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token is stored in your account so we can send you App notifications. You can revoke this at any time via your device notification settings.
Feedback (voluntary):
Feedback text, category, optional screenshots, app version, device model, Android version. We do not attach your name, email, or advertising ID to a feedback submission.
The App reads audio files (MP3, FLAC, WAV, OGG, and other formats) and video files (MP4, MKV, AVI, and other formats) from your device's local storage via the Android MediaStore API. Your local media files are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone.
The App includes an internet radio feature powered by the Radio Browser API (api.radio-browser.info), a community-maintained, openly licensed directory of internet radio stations. When you use internet radio:
Your device connects directly to the selected radio station's streaming server. Standard network metadata (IP address) is visible to that station's server.
The App sends a User-Agent header to Radio Browser as required by that service's etiquette.
Your favourite radio stations are stored locally on your device only.
The App holds a WiFi lock while radio is playing to maintain stream quality; this does not transmit any data.
The Discover tab connects to third-party online music streaming sources to let you browse and play freely available music. When you use this feature:
The App sends requests to third-party streaming APIs to fetch song lists, artwork, and audio streams. These requests include standard network metadata (IP address, device info) but no personal account credentials.
Audio is streamed directly from the third-party source and is not permanently cached.
The App does not host, store, or redistribute any streamed content.
All streamed content is subject to the terms and licensing of the respective source platform.
If you enable automatic metadata fetching, the App may send outbound requests to retrieve missing album artwork, genre, release year, artist images, and lyrics. These requests contain only the song title and artist name — never any personal information. This feature is disabled by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings.
SoundWave Plus is an optional premium tier offering additional features. Purchases are processed exclusively through Google Play Billing (Google LLC). We do not directly handle or store your payment card information.
When you make a purchase, Google Play provides us with a purchase token. We send this token to our secure server-side verification service (a Supabase Edge Function), which validates it with Google and grants the corresponding entitlement to your account. Entitlement records (e.g., plus_subscription, plus_lifetime) are stored in your account on Supabase.
Purchase history and billing details are managed by Google Play. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles payment data.
The App includes an opt-in social listening experience:
Listener Level and Badges — earned from your listening statistics, stored in your account profile.
Leaderboard — your display name, avatar, and listening statistics may be visible to other users on the public leaderboard. You can opt out of the leaderboard at any time in Settings; opting out hides your profile from all leaderboard views.
Friends — you can add friends using a 6-character Friend Code derived from your user ID. Friends can view your listening stats on the leaderboard. You can remove friends at any time.
If you opt out of the leaderboard, your data is excluded from all public views but remains in your private account for your own statistics.
The App includes an optional Feedback form. Submitting feedback is entirely voluntary. When you tap Submit, the following is sent to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) on our behalf:
The feedback category and the message text you type
Any screenshots or images you choose to attach
Basic technical context: app version, device manufacturer and model, Android version
We do not attach your name, email address, or advertising ID to a feedback submission. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in the message or screenshots. Feedback data is retained until no longer needed for troubleshooting, then deleted. To request deletion of feedback you have sent, contact us at the address below.
The free tier of the App is ad-supported. Google AdMob (Google LLC) displays banner ads and video ads during playback. Google AdMob may collect and process data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom (UK), the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before serving personalized ads, in compliance with GDPR and UK GDPR. You may update your ad consent preferences at any time in Settings.
SoundWave Plus subscribers with an active subscription do not see ads.
To opt out of personalized advertising on Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (Android 12+), or opt out of interest-based ads on earlier versions.
The App allows you to share song information (title, artist, and thumbnail artwork) using Android's built-in share sheet. Shared content is sent directly to the app you choose (e.g., messaging or social apps). We do not receive, store, or process any data transmitted through the share action.
The Clip Maker feature lets you trim audio or video into a clip and save it as a ringtone, notification, or alarm sound. Clips are saved directly to your device's system Ringtones folder (Android 10+) or public storage (Android 9 and below). No clip data is uploaded to any server.
The App integrates with the following third-party services:
Supabase — authentication, account profiles, listening stats, entitlements, and friends (supabase.com/privacy)
Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — in-app purchases and subscriptions
Google AdMob (Google LLC) — in-app advertising (policies.google.com/privacy)
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — GDPR/UK GDPR ad consent management
Google Firebase (Google LLC) — Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage for feedback; Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications (policies.google.com/privacy)
Radio Browser API (api.radio-browser.info) — internet radio station directory (CC0)
iTunes Search API (Apple Inc.) — album art, genre, release year (metadata enrichment)
Deezer API (Deezer SA) — artist images (metadata enrichment)
LrcLib API — song lyrics (metadata enrichment)
Third-party music streaming sources — audio streams and song catalogues (Discover tab)
Each service is governed by its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Local (on your device):
App preferences (theme, equalizer, sleep timer, playback speed, ad consent choices)
Local playlists, video library, recently played, radio favourites
Offline Plus audio files (encrypted with AES-128 using a key stored in Android Keystore)

Account profile: email, display name, avatar, friend code, leaderboard opt-out flag
Listening statistics and play events (for stats, badges, and leaderboard)
Entitlements (Plus subscription status, purchased themes, trial status)
FCM token for push notifications
Cloud (Google Firebase — all users who submit feedback):
Feedback text, category, technical context, and optional screenshots
The App requests the following permissions:
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO (Android 13+) / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — to read local music files
READ_MEDIA_VIDEO (Android 13+) — to read local video files
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below) — to save ringtone clips
WRITE_SETTINGS — to set a clip as the default ringtone
INTERNET — for streaming, radio, account sync, metadata, ads, and notifications
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to check connectivity before making network requests
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — to hold a WiFi lock during internet radio playback
FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — for background audio/video playback
WAKE_LOCK — to keep audio playback active when the screen is off
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — to display the playback notification and push notifications
AD_ID — to allow Google AdMob to access the Advertising ID for ad personalization
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because the App serves advertising through Google AdMob, which may collect advertising identifiers, and because we collect account data from registered users, we do not knowingly allow children under 13 to use the App. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please contact us at the address below so we can take appropriate action.
Account data and listening statistics: retained while your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion permanently removes all cloud data (profile, stats, entitlements, play events, FCM token).
Feedback: retained until no longer needed for troubleshooting, then deleted.
AdMob data: retained per Google's data retention policies.
Local data (playlists, preferences): cleared when you clear the App's data in your device settings or uninstall the App.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold.
To delete all account data: use Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App.
To access or correct your profile data: edit it within the App.
For advertising data: visit myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.
For any other requests: contact us at the address below.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

Please read this User Agreement ("Agreement") carefully before using SoundWave Music Player ("the App") — a music and video player with local library management, internet radio, online music discovery, gamification, and optional SoundWave Plus premium features — developed by Music Player Team ("the Developer"). By installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the App and uninstall it. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App.
The Developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Android devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not include the right to sublicense, sell, resell, or commercially exploit the App or its content.
The App, including its code, design, graphics, and user interface, is the proprietary intellectual property of the Developer. The source code is not open source and is not publicly available. Your use of the App does not grant you any ownership rights in the App itself. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or redistribute the App except as allowed by applicable law.
Creating an account is optional but required for certain features (listening stats, leaderboard, friends, SoundWave Plus). When you register:
You agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must not create accounts on behalf of others or impersonate any person.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes all cloud data associated with your account.
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. Specifically:
You may only play local audio and video files that you own, have purchased, or have a legal right to access.
You are solely responsible for ensuring your local media library complies with all applicable copyright, intellectual property, and licensing laws in your jurisdiction.
You must not use the App to reproduce, distribute, or publicly perform copyrighted music or video content without authorization from the rights holder.
You must not use the App to download, capture, or record streamed audio content from the Discover tab or internet radio streams.
You must not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App except as permitted by applicable law.
You must not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any advertising functionality, subscription enforcement, or trial-limit mechanisms in the App.
You must not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to manipulate your listening statistics, leaderboard ranking, or badge progress.
The App's Discover tab provides access to freely available music streamed from third-party platforms. By using this feature you acknowledge and agree that:
The Developer does not host, own, or control the streamed content. All content belongs to its respective rights holders and is served by third-party platforms.
The availability and legality of streamed content may vary by country. You are responsible for ensuring that streaming such content is lawful in your jurisdiction.
Streamed content is for personal listening only and must not be recorded, redistributed, or used for any commercial purpose.
The Developer is not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or availability of any content served through third-party streaming sources.
The App provides access to internet radio stations via the Radio Browser directory. By using internet radio you acknowledge that:
Stations are operated by independent third parties. The Developer has no control over their content, availability, or uptime.
Radio streams are for personal listening only. Recording, rebroadcasting, or commercial use is prohibited.
The legality of receiving a particular radio stream may vary by country. You are responsible for compliance with your local laws.
SoundWave Plus is an optional premium subscription offering additional features. By subscribing you agree that:
Subscriptions are billed through Google Play Billing. Your purchase is subject to Google Play's Terms of Service.
Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Google Play's refund policies.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Google Play Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
The one-time Lifetime purchase grants permanent access to Plus features as long as the App is available; it does not entitle you to a refund if the App is discontinued.
The free 7-day trial is limited to one per device. We use a device identifier (App Set ID) solely to enforce this limit. Attempting to circumvent the trial limit (e.g., by resetting identifiers or using multiple accounts) is a breach of this Agreement.
Plus features are tied to your account. Transferring or sharing your account to obtain Plus benefits is not permitted.
We reserve the right to modify Plus features or pricing with reasonable notice.
The App includes listening statistics, badges, a Listener Level, a public leaderboard, and a friends system. By participating you agree that:
Your display name, avatar, and listening statistics may be visible to others on the public leaderboard unless you opt out.
You will not manipulate or artificially inflate your listening statistics or ranking.
The Developer may reset, adjust, or remove leaderboard entries or badges at its discretion if it detects abuse.
You can opt out of the leaderboard and remove friends at any time in Settings.
The free tier of the App is supported by advertisements served by Google AdMob. By using the App on the free tier you agree to see ads during normal use, including banner ads and video ads during playback. You agree not to block, interfere with, or circumvent the ad delivery mechanisms in the App.
For users in the EEA and UK, personalized advertising requires your consent under GDPR / UK GDPR. You may update your ad consent preferences at any time in Settings. Withdrawing consent shows non-personalized ads — it does not remove ads entirely.
Active SoundWave Plus subscribers do not see ads.
The App allows you to share song information (title, artist, and thumbnail artwork) using Android's share sheet. You are solely responsible for ensuring that content you share complies with the terms of service of the receiving platform and applicable copyright law.
The Clip Maker feature lets you trim audio or video clips from your local media and set them as ringtones, notifications, or alarms. You may only create clips from media you own or have a legal right to use in this manner. The Developer is not responsible for any copyright infringement arising from clips you create or set.
By using the App, including creating an account, you agree to our collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy. This includes account data, listening statistics, and advertising data. Please read the Privacy Policy for full details.
The App integrates with third-party services including Supabase, Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Google Firebase, Radio Browser API, iTunes Search API, Deezer API, LrcLib, and online streaming sources. The Developer is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content provided by these services. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.
The App provides an optional home screen widget that displays playback controls. The widget operates using locally cached data only and does not transmit any information.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all devices. The availability of online streaming content, radio streams, and cloud features is subject to third-party service uptime and is not guaranteed.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of listening statistics or badges, loss of revenue, device damage, or issues arising from third-party streaming content, radio stations, advertising, subscription billing, or metadata services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Developer's jurisdiction.
The Developer reserves the right to modify this Agreement at any time. Updated terms will be reflected by the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Agreement.
This Agreement is effective until terminated. Your rights under this Agreement will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and uninstall it from your devices. The Developer may also suspend or terminate your account for breach of this Agreement.
