Privacy Policy for SoundScript
Last updated: 11 September 2026
SoundScript (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is an audio transcription and speech-to-text application for Android. This policy explains what data we collect and how it is used.
1. Audio and Transcription Data
• Microphone: The app accesses your device microphone only while you are transcribing live speech, and only after you grant microphone permission.
• Audio Files: You may also pick an audio file on your device. The app only accesses the specific audio files you choose to import.
• Processing: Audio is processed via Android on-device Speech Services or Google Cloud Speech-to-Text (if you supply your own API key) to produce text. We do not operate our own speech storage servers.
• Transcripts: Transcripts you save remain stored locally on your device unless you choose to copy, share, or export them.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The Play Store version shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the advertising ID, IP address, device info, and approximate location, and may use cookies or similar tech, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). We do not sell your personal information.
3. Permissions Requested
• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Live transcription.
• Internet / Network: Speech recognition and AdMob ads.
• Advertising ID (AD_ID): Ad delivery through Google Play Services.
• Read Media Audio: Only files you choose to transcribe.
4. Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
