If you want immersive, over-ear sound isolation for long studio sessions and critical listening at home, choose SoundMAGIC HP1000; if you need a versatile, hybrid-driver in-ear monitor with swappable tuning filters for precise instrument separation on the go, choose Hidizs MS3.
• SoundMAGIC HP1000: Delivers a massive, open-back-like soundstage in a rugged, closed-back over-ear design built for durability; however, it is wired-only and heavy for active movement, making it poor for exercise.
• Hidizs MS3: Offers incredible detail through its 2BA+1DD hybrid driver setup with adjustable acoustic filters for custom tuning; however, it lacks wireless connectivity and requires an adapter for balanced output, limiting casual mobile use.
• Who it's for: The HP1000 fits the audiophile or producer who sits still to analyze music, while the MS3 suits the musician or commuter who demands portability and sonic customization.
The SoundMAGIC HP1000 is engineered for people who treat their listening experience as a dedicated event rather than background noise. This is a pair of closed-back over-ear headphones that prioritizes a specific kind of auditory immersion. The standout feature here is the soundstage. Most closed-back designs tend to trap sound inside the ear cup, creating a "boomy" or boxed-in effect. SoundMAGIC has managed something rare by using large 53mm dynamic drivers paired with specialized cavities and dampers to create a sound field that rivals open-back headphones. You get deep, powerful bass that doesn't muddy the mids, vocals that sit naturally in front of you, and highs that are clear without being harsh.
For musicians and producers, this headphone is a serious tool. The impedance sits at 66 ohms with a sensitivity of 120 dB, meaning it can be driven by standard equipment but rewards a good source with full fidelity. The frequency response stretches up to 30 KHz, ensuring you hear the airiest details in high-resolution tracks. The build quality screams longevity; the slider and yoke are made of aluminum, designed to withstand rough handling, while the headband is wrapped in real sheepskin. The earpads combine memory foam with high-quality PU leather, which is crucial for those long mixing sessions where comfort is non-negotiable.
However, this product is not for everyone. It is strictly wired, utilizing a 3.5mm jack with a detachable cable system. There is no Bluetooth, no battery, and no active noise cancellation circuitry—just passive sound isolation provided by the tight seal of the ear cups. Because of the over-ear design and the inclusion of a sturdy aluminum frame, the total weight comes in at 412 grams. While the padding is plush, carrying these around a gym or running errands is impractical. They are best suited for a desk, a recording booth, or a quiet living room where you can settle in and focus entirely on the audio signal. If you are looking for headphones for exercise, this is simply not the right tool for the job due to the lack of wireless freedom and the bulk of the form factor.

The Hidizs MS3 represents a different philosophy entirely, catering to listeners who value precision, portability, and adaptability above all else. These are in-ear monitors (IEMs) that pack a complex hybrid driver configuration into a shell made from aviation-grade aluminum alloy. Inside, you find a 10.2mm dual magnetic circuit dynamic driver working in tandem with a Knowles SWFK-31736 composite balanced armature driver. This combination allows the MS3 to handle low frequencies with the impact of a dynamic driver while maintaining the crisp, detailed articulation of a balanced armature for the mid and high ranges. The result is a frequency response that reaches up to 40kHz, capturing nuances that simpler drivers often miss.
What truly sets the MS3 apart from other premium IEMs is the inclusion of three pneumatic tuning filters. This is a game-changer for users who want to tailor the sound signature to their specific environment or preference. Whether you prefer a vocal-forward presentation, enhanced low-frequency punch, or a more balanced, neutral tone, you can swap these filters to alter the acoustic chamber without changing the hardware. The package also includes nine pairs of silicone eartips in various sizes and types, allowing for a perfect fit that maximizes passive isolation. The shell itself is compact, weighing only 15 grams, making them nearly invisible when worn.
The connectivity is another area where the MS3 shines for enthusiasts. It features a 0.78mm 2-pin connector with a distinctive "shark fin" interface, compatible with a vast ecosystem of upgrade cables and Bluetooth hooks. While the base cable is a high-purity oxygen-free copper multi-conductor with 192 ultra-small wires, the detachable nature means you can switch to a balanced 4.4mm cable for better channel separation if your source supports it. The unit comes with a custom PU leather storage case that snaps shut securely, protecting the delicate drivers during transport.
Despite its impressive specs, the MS3 has limitations that define its user base. Like the HP1000, it is a wired solution, though the flexibility of the cable system helps mitigate some of the tethered feeling. However, it lacks the physical bulk and isolation of a large over-ear cup, which might be a drawback for those seeking absolute silence in a noisy environment. Furthermore, while it supports Bluetooth via external hooks, the earbuds themselves do not have a built-in battery or wireless radio. They require a dongle or adapter for true wireless functionality. This makes them excellent for travel, commuting, or casual listening at home, but they require a bit more effort to set up compared to a simple plug-and-play Bluetooth headset. They are definitely headphones for exercise in the sense that they stay secure, but they are not wireless sports earbuds.
• Best for stationary critical listening → SoundMAGIC HP1000. The larger 53mm drivers and closed-back design provide a wider, more natural soundstage that in-ears struggle to replicate.
• Best for portability and travel → Hidizs MS3. At 15 grams with a compact storage case, these fit easily in a pocket, whereas the HP1000 requires a bag and a dedicated seat.
• Best for sound customization → Hidizs MS3. The ability to swap pneumatic tuning filters allows you to physically change the frequency response to match your taste.
• Best for long-term comfort while seated → SoundMAGIC HP1000. Real sheepskin and memory foam earpads offer superior pressure distribution for hours of wear, unlike the silicone tips of the MS3.
• Best for durability in a pro setting → SoundMAGIC HP1000. The aluminum construction and robust cabling are built to survive years of studio use and rough handling.
• Best for future-proofing with upgrades → Hidizs MS3. The 0.78mm 2-pin standard allows you to buy higher-end cables or Bluetooth adapters later without replacing the drivers.
• Best for maximum bass impact → SoundMAGIC HP1000. The sealed over-ear enclosure traps low frequencies effectively, providing a deeper, more physical bass response.
• Best for detailed vocal separation → Hidizs MS3. The hybrid driver setup excels at separating instruments and vocals in dense mixes, offering a level of clarity ideal for musicians.
In my opinion, if you are building a serious listening station or working as an audio professional, the SoundMAGIC HP1000 is the superior choice. The engineering behind that unique soundstage and the comfort of the sheepskin padding make it a joy to use for hours at a time. However, if you need a single piece of gear that can travel with you everywhere and adapt to any listening situation, the Hidizs MS3 is the smarter investment. Its hybrid drivers and tunable filters offer a level of versatility that the HP1000 cannot match. Ultimately, for exercise or active lifestyles, neither is a perfect wireless solution, but the MS3 is far more practical for movement, while the HP1000 remains the king of the stationary audiophile experience.
Neither product is designed specifically for intense exercise like running; the SoundMAGIC HP1000 is too heavy and wired-only, while the Hidizs MS3 requires a wired connection or external Bluetooth hook. They are best for stationary listening or light walking.
The SoundMAGIC HP1000 has an impedance of 66 ohms and will work well with most modern devices, though an amp can help maximize dynamics. The Hidizs MS3 has a low impedance of 18 ohms and is very easy to drive directly from a phone or portable player.
Yes, the MS3 uses a standard 0.78mm 2-pin connector, allowing you to swap the stock cable for any compatible aftermarket cable, including balanced 4.4mm options or Bluetooth hooks.
The SoundMAGIC HP1000 offers strong passive isolation due to its large, sealed over-ear cups blocking outside noise effectively. The Hidizs MS3 provides isolation through the fit of the silicone eartips, which varies depending on the user's ear shape and the tips used.
