Honors and Awards

14. Jan 2022: Dr. Dutta was given the Best Reviewer, Honorary Mention Award for providing insightful and timely reviews for the journal IEEE Transactions on Visualization & Computer Graphics (TVCG) for the year 2021.

13. Jan 2022: Dr. Dutta was given selected to participate in the DOE ASCR Workshop on Visualization for Scientific Discovery, Decision-Making, & Communication as an expert and contribute in the discussion of future directions in visualization research.

12. Nov 2021: Soumya Dutta et al.'s paper titled "In Situ Climate Modeling for Analyzing Extreme Weather Events" wins the Best Paper Award in In Situ Infrastructures for Enabling Extreme-scale Analysis and Visualization (ISAV) 2021, co-located with Supercomputing (SC).

11. Sept 2021: Dr. Dutta wins the LAAP Award for showing exceptional dedication to and leadership of the Data Science at Scale Summer School at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

10. Jun 2021: Dr. Dutta was invited to participate in a panel titled "Opportunities and challenges on using Data Visualization", organized by NSF Center on Pervasive Personalized Intelligence.

9. Apr 2021: Dr. Dutta joins as a member of the Topic Advisory Panel for journal Entropy and is going to lead a special issue on statistical methods for large-data analysis and visualization.

8. Jul 2019: Dr. Dutta gets promoted to a full-time Scientist 2 position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

7. June 2019: Dr. Duta's co-authored paper titled "Objective Finite-Time Flow Topology from Flowmap Expansion and Contraction" wins the Best Paper Award in the Workshops on Topological Methods in Data Analysis and Visualization (TopoInVis) 2019.

6. Nov 2018: Dr. Dutta's co-authored paper titled "A Flexible System For In Situ Triggers" wins the Best Paper Award in In Situ Infrastructures for Enabling Extreme-scale Analysis and Visualization (ISAV) 2018, co-located with Supercomputing (SC).

5. March 2018: Soumya Dutta wins the Best Poster Award in 12th Annual CSE Student Poster Exhibition 2018, The Ohio State University. This is an annual poster presentation competition held among all the graduate students in computer science department.

4. Nov 2017: Soumya Dutta is nominated for the Ohio State Presidential Fellowship 2017, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for his academic performance and doctoral research. This is the most prestigious award and an extremely competitive fellowship given by the graduate school at the Ohio State University.

3. May 2017: Soumya Dutta wins the Best Poster Award in 11th Annual CSE Student Poster Exhibition 2017, The Ohio State University. This is an annual poster presentation competition held among all the graduate students in computer science department.

2. Sept 2016: Soumya Dutta's doctoral research is highlighted in the Computer Science department's newsletter after winning the Honorable Mention Award at IEEE Visualization Conference 2016.
