** I will be joining the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) in Fall 2022. There will be several positions for all levels of students available in my group to conduct exciting and state-of-the-art research and projects on machine learning for visual computing, big data visual analytics, and data science. Soumya Dutta is a scientist in the Information Sciences group (CCS-3) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Previously, Dr. Dutta was a postdoctoral researcher at the Applied Computer Sciences group (CCS-7) at LANL from June 2018-July 2019, mentored by Dr. James Ahrens and Dr. Roxana Bujack. Dr. Dutta obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Ohio State University in May 2018 where he was part of the GRAVITY research group and was supervised by Prof. Han-Wei Shen.

Dr. Dutta's current research interests include: (1) Big Data Analytics & Visualization, (2) Machine Learning for Visual Computing, (3) Statistical Techniques for Big Data, (4) HPC for Visual Computing, and (5) In Situ Analysis.
