Short BIOGRAPHY

Being hosted at the French institute for demographic studies (INED, France) between October 2017 and September 2021, I completed my PhD in demography at University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in January 2022. I am interested in African demography in general. More specifically, my research focus on mortality studies, especially the mortality of older adults, which has received very little attention in the field. In this regard, my PhD is dedicated to estimating the levels and trends of mortality of this population segment in sub-Saharan Africa by crossing various data sources. My future research agenda include improving data quality and estimates at older ages as well as on causes of death in sub-Saharan Africa and other areas of the world where data are deficient. Before starting my thesis, I completed a master's degree in applied mathematics and social sciences at Aix-Marseille University and an European postgraduate research certificate in demography as an advanced joint pre-doctoral training program from the European Doctoral School of Demography. I am currently doing a research on age verification of older adults using parish registers in the archdiocese of Ouagadougou. Moreover, with other colleagues, we are interested in measuring mortality in emergency contexts such as terrorist attacks and forced population movements that prevail in Burkina Faso in recent years.
