SOUL MUN

Dear prospective delegates and faculty advisors,

My name is Adriana Abood, and it is with great honor and excitement that I invite you to the first virtual session of the Symposium of United Leaders Model United Nations conference. SOUL MUN provides an opportunity for students world-wide to engage in the discussion of pertinent issues, through different perspectives, and seek creative solutions with research, diplomacy and team-work. We are thrilled to have you join us from October 7th to October 9th, 2022.

I must begin by saying I admire each and every delegate that partakes in conferences such as this one. Especially delegates who will be debating for the first time in this conference. Preparing and participating in a Model United Nations conference is not easy. In fact, it takes incredible effort, and quite honestly sacrifice of rest-time, to manage a position and present it to your committee. Additionally, it can prove itself to be highly intimidating to present your ideas to a large number of delegates and hope it’ll be added into the drafted resolution. I can not wait to see you all try your best, maybe overcome a couple fears, and give incredible performances. I have no doubt of your capabilities.

Our conference will be held in a virtual format with the hope of maintaining accessibility and inclusion as our center of focus. SOUL MUN was created with the aim of providing a safe-space for discussion about issues that have a tendency of bringing up unnecessary controversy, or even hate. As well as with the purpose of allowing delegates to learn about Model United Nations, discuss international dilemmas, passionately defend their positions, and negotiate with similar ideologies. We hope that our conference will pique your interest in international issues and give you with the tools you need to take home and utilize confidently for years to come.

Nevertheless, SOUL MUN is not just about in-committee performance. Delegates at conference build connections and friendships that last way more than the two days we spend together in conference. An award can never top the opportunity for friendly relationships in Model United Nations, if you ask us.
