Lavitz embodies all the traits one would expect of a knight: Chivalrous, personable, and loyal to his kingdom. He was raised with an honest heart and a cheerful disposition. His crime, perhaps, is focusing so much on his duties that his personal life has fallen by the wayside. His mother constantly inquires as to when she'll have a grandchild and Lavitz never has an answer for her.

LOYAL
trait
Lavitz is deeply loyal to his king and country. He would, in his own words, 'tear the flesh from his body' if it meant protecting either. The importance of a nation of people and their well-being is not lost on him and is something he takes seriously. Because of his passion for his country, however, it can sometimes make him shortsighted in his plans.
SELFLESS
trait
When Lavitz sees someone in need, he feels compelled to help them. This can sometimes involve going out of his way or into dangerous situations. Even if they're citizens of an enemy nation, he would not hesitate to open even his home to them.
FORTHRIGHT
trait
Whether asked or not, Lavitz has no trouble giving his opinion on a matter, especially if he thinks it will help. He is less interested in pleasing others and more in giving candid advice.
STUBBORN
trait
Like his mother, Lavitz is known for holding steadfast to his position. He never gave up on becoming a knight, would never falter in fulfilling his duty as one, and once his loyalty is gained he rarely doubts his friends. This has also caused him to hold a long grudge against Greham, who thoroughly broke his trust. Once he's set his mind to something, very little can stop him.
AWKWARD
trait
When it comes to expressing his deeper emotions, Lavitz can fumble. He rarely speaks his true feelings, of the old aches that cause him grief and keep him awake at night. Even helping in more subtle manners is not his forte. Due to his life spent mostly among soldiers he’s also not the best at making close friends outside of the circle.

Shaped by War
Lavitz was raised in the kingdom of Serdio in the city of Bale, the son of a knight and with great aspirations to become a knight himself. It was his childhood dream to follow in his father's footsteps and so he did. The roof of his house held a view of the castle, the spot accessible through their library's high window, and was a treasured spot for the young Lavitz. He measured his height on his wall and dreamed of a future where he was a knight like his father.
With his father training him, Lavitz was a quick study in all forms of combat, but he came to favor the spear just as his father did. When he was 14, Serdio was split into two kingdoms: Basil and Imperial Sandora. This was caused by the death of King Carlo, who was murdered by his brother Prince Doel. When Albert was named king, Doel named himself Emperor Doel and annexed the southern region as Imperial Sandora.
Suddenly, the country was at war, though both sides found themselves evenly matched. His father, Servi Slambert, known as the Lance of Slambert, served as the head of the First Knighthood. He was happy to serve King Albert as he had King Carlo before him.
He served alongside his best friend, Greham, who was the head of the Second Knighthood.
Greham, however, would go on to betray his father and kill him before defecting to Imperial Sandora. Lavitz, 21 at the time, developed a deep grudge against the man. After his father's death, he was promoted to the head of the First Knighthood.
Lavitz dutifully went where he was assigned, fully devoted to his country. Because he knew the importance of Basil and King Albert, he was fine with risking his life to protect both.
When he did visit Basil, it was to a worried mother. He always kept the harsher details of his assignments from her, not wanting her to worry about things neither of them could control, and he often talked with the people of the city. He was well-known and loved by everyone, though not particularly close to anyone save King Albert. Although older than him, he saw the man not just as his king, but as his closest friend, and taught him how to use the lance as well.
A little over ten years later and Lavitz still has not settled down. A deep-seeded grudge drives him and he knows that he would
sacrifice his life without hesitation if it meant defending Basil or obtaining revenge for his father. As much as his mother wishes it, he can't bring himself to settle down with anyone when he knows he could leave them at any moment.
GENERAL
This is my own interpretation of Lavitz, please respect that.
As there is very little to go off canon-wise, Lavitz is very headcanon based
