Soranik has always been so certain of what she wants to do in life: helps others. The call to be a green lantern seems like it would be a natural step, except that she hates the green lanterns after her world was decimated by one. She accepts for the chance to do a greater good and discovers that her lineage has been tied to the lanterns much more than she expected.

COMPASSIONATE
trait
With a calling to help others, Soranik has always held a compassionate heart. It’s what drove her to take up the mantle of a green lantern even when she still despised the order. Her caring heart makes her detest the idea of taking a life, even an enemy’s.
NATURE LOVER
trait
Soranik finds a special kind of peace out in nature and, when she can, will go diving or simply spend time in nature. It helps her unwind, focus, and remember what really matters to her.
GUARDED
trait
Her career has always been more important to her than anything, though she does share a close bond with her parents. When it came to her personal life, however, Soranik has kept others at a distance. A guarded heart for no reason other than she’s scared it will be broken. As both a doctor and a green lantern she has been surrounded by death and knows very well that life is temporary.
REVERENT
trait
Soranik’s respect for human life extends to the dead. When someone passes, she holds a moment of silence, even if she never knew them.
RESPONSIBLE
trait
Soranik is serious about the oaths she’s taken as both a doctor and a green lantern. More than that, she’s serious about protecting her people.
CALM
trait
Even under the pressure of battle, Soranik retains her clear head and thinks through a situation calmly. This allows her to see things others may not.
SUPERSTITIOUS
trait
When Soranik first held her green power ring, she believed it to be cursed for a multitude of reasons and struggled with accepting her role. Certain things tied to the trauma of her people cause her to have irrational thoughts.
INQUISITIVE
trait
Soranik approaches a problem by considering the details first. From there, she draws the bigger picture. As such, she is always questioning, always searching, before she reaches a conclusion. Similarly, she has no issue raising a question against someone’s authority.
ANALYTICAL
trait
When thinking clearly, Soranik is quick to offer a rational explanation to phenomena. For example, emotions are fostered in high-risk situations, even between doctors and patients, but that doesn’t mean they’re not real.
INTROVERT
trait
When she’s tired and strung out, Soranik recharges best by being alone or with people she’s completely comfortable with.
DOCTOR
skill
Years of schooling have gifted Soranik with a strong, intimate knowledge of the medical field. Her primary study was as a neurosurgeon, but her zeal for learning has given her knowledge in several fields.
MARTIAL ARTS
skill
Besides her mind, Soranik has also trained her body. On Korugar, she took basic defense classes. When she became a lantern, she devoted more time to training her body.
LANTERN RING
power
Her lantern ring gives her a wide variety of abilities, from flying, force fields, the use of constructs, and more.
GREEN LANTERN
canon
After becoming a green lantern, Soranik serves the corps through several harrowing events.
YELLOW LANTERN
canon
Before the green lanterns disappear, Sora is inducted, forcibly, into the Sinestro Corps by her father. She remains in the corps to both help the remainder of her people and to keep an eye on Sinestro.
Sinestro by Blood
Soranik was born to Thaal Sinestro and Arin Sur on the planet of Korugar. As a child, Soranik loved both her parents, but could definitely be described as a daddy’s girl. She adored her father and his green lantern ring. When he appeared on TV, she would excitedly call for him. However, a happy home life with her parents was never to be. As Thaal descended into dictatorship, Arin took her daughter and to live with the Natus, to keep her safe from the growing animosity that their family faced. Secretly, it was also to keep her away from Thaal. Arin refused to tell him where their daughter was and, eventually, he accepted her reasoning for keeping Soranik safe.
Rebellions rose against Sinestro and in their destruction, Arin was killed. In the end, Sinestro was ousted from his position of dictator, but his shadow would always remain over Korugar.
Natu by Name
Soranik grew up without his influence, but not without his presence. He would return in her teenage years and burn a mark — their family crest — across her face so that he would never lose her again. At her graduation, he disguised himself so that he could take her picture. Soranik remained blissfully unaware of his presence as she started her career as a doctor. To her, Dgibb Natu and Karoll Natu were her real parents, for she had never known any differently.
Green Lantern's Light
Like most Korugarians, Soranik grew up with a hatred for the green lanterns due to Sinestro’s rule over their planet. When a green power ring chose her, she tried to deny it, but with the life of a patient on the line she begrudgingly accepted its power so she could save their life. From then on, Soranik Natu served the Green Lantern Corps and patrolled sector 1417, which contained her homeworld of Korugar. Over time, she grew close to some of the other Lanterns, especially Iolande and Kyle. Overcoming her hatred of the green lanterns, Soranik thrived in her role and relished the opportunity to help others. She participated in the Sinestro Corps War, the Blackest Night, and at one point found herself kidnapped by the Weaponer in a plot to kill her father.
When Sinestro told her of her true parentage, it took a severe toll on her and made her question herself. Her hatred for Sinestro was so strong that she was willing to cast aside her morals if it meant his death.
Fears Made Into Light
After the War of the Lanterns and Sinestro’s disappearance into the depths of space, Soranik thought she was finally free to live her life and resume her duties. However, the yellow lanterns were still active, even without their leader, and continued to give the green lanterns trouble.
Arkillo, their current leader, kidnapped her, and the one to come to her rescue was Sinestro himself. On his return, he had also saved several Korugarians, and it was for them that Soranik first stayed. Sinestro regained control of his corps and focused on turning them into a force of order and to rescue displaced Korugarians.
Just before the green lanterns disappear, Sinestro, with foresight of the future thanks to Lyssa, removes her ring and forcibly inducts her into the Sinestro Corps. Soranik is hardly happy about the turn of events but doesn’t have much choice. She remains with the Sinestro Corps and her father. It’s a tentative period of strange friendships and perhaps the start of closing the rift between her and Sinestro. Eventually, she is handed control of the Sinestro Corps, who have now replaced the green lanterns as the galaxy peace-keeping force.
GENERAL
This is my own interpretation of Soranik, please respect that.
I’m more than willing to change up points of canon depending on plotting, just let me know. I also haven’t read everything!
